I have some questions about my new coms set up.

 

If i get a Peltor Comtac II and then a TCI ptt would that be all i need to hook it up to my radio which btw what is a good radio under 50 bucks? and also should i get Peltors or Sordins or something else?

 

I am getting the peltors for about 200(is that a good deal?)

I love it. Real deal Peltors or Sordins but the radio must be as cheap as possible.

Yea, if your going down the road of Peltors or Sordins you best compliment them with a decent radio set. Ferrari with Fiat Punto tyres anyone?

well. After spending all my money on the peltors or sordins i wont have much to spend on a radio. But i just need one that will work for the time being. THEN once i get some more money i will invest in to a good radio.

thing is, how you going to get that wiring done? Decent radios don't generally use the same configurations as cheap ones. Most cheap radios are single pin, most decent ones are dual-pin. You might find some crossover, but you'll be limited to few radios that share a common pin pattern.

In the case of Sordins and Peltors its a put down all your money or don't bother kinda thing. I think what Galactica is getting at is you will need to get some work done for them to work with a low end radio at which time a decent radio would probably cost not much more, and almost definately cost you less if you decide to get a good radio later on because thats more modification work required.

 

Why not save up a bit longer and get the whole thing done and dusted with your Sordin/Peltor, PTT and Radio or get the Sordin/Peltors and PTT then wait until you have the funds for a decent radio.

 

Alternatively there's the cup and string technique.
