RWJP
A friend of mine trusts me enough to let me take apart his Star SA80 to have a look at it's gearbox, which has started making a particularly unpleasant grinding noise. I've had a little experience with AEG gearboxes, namely a P90 and an M4, but i'd like a proper guide for taking apart an SA80. I've only found one guide on here and sadly the images with it no longer work. Does anyone know of any others? Or what version gearbox the Star SA80 takes so I can find a guide for that? Cheers in advance RWJP
bbstriker
Try Airsoftmechanics.com There is a full guide there. It's what I used to disassemble my Star loads of times. Excellent detail and pics. here's the link but you'll need to register: http://forums.airsoftmechanics.com/index.php?topic=459.
RWJP
Awesome, thanks very much. Edit: However, that guide misses out how to remove the "unique" electrical switch and selector switch mechanism, any more guides out there?
bbstriker
Awesome, thanks very much. Edit: However, that guide misses out how to remove the "unique" electrical switch and selector switch mechanism, any more guides out there? I disassembled the switch to clean the contacts. It's not difficult. When you take the mechbox apart, the micro switch is easy to access.
