8tharmy
Has anyone tried this before? i've seen people done it and minor dremling of the AKM wood furnitures. but im kinda worried about the grip. I heard the Dboy ak74 pistol grip is compatible, can anyone confirm that?
adadqgg
Do not bother. You are better off building one from all the parts you will be replacing(which, to make an externally correct AKM, would be most of the external parts). Most obvious things: Front sight, gas block, top cover, stock angle, selector markings...etc. all need to be changed.
8tharmy
I was thinking of getting a Real steel front sight, real steel wood hand guard/stock, dboy ak74, real steel akm flash hider. I thought the AKM uses the same top reciever as AK47? Also what is the difference between AKM and AK47 gas block?
8tharmy
NVM i see the studs on the top reciever. Darn it! I'l just stick with the 56 then, even tho it's not even close to the russian loadout im putting together.
Jason2
Yeah, i planed to do the same with my type 56 but after a quick search i decided to keep the type 56 as it is and rather buy a akm to it. To much work, if you know where to look both rifles are realy different. But on my type 56 i´ll probably replace/take of the bayonet holder.
