Tw1tch
Hi guys, Just recently picked up an ASG Sportline AW .338 and now I want to tune it into something more useful as a sniper rifle. Unfortunately there's not that much info out there that I can find so any input would be much appreciated. It's currently shooting around 370FPS on what we think is .20's but might be something different (friend was unsure of the rounds in his speedloader) I can't provide information on range at the moment as I've not had the chance to test it. I've read somewhere that the Proline is VSR compatible and I've seen the same thing about the sportline but I'm not sure. Unfortunately ASG will only deal with trade queries and not consumers. If anyone's got/had one and was able to get it to a decent level I'd be grateful if you could share a parts list etc. Many thanks
Rainer1989
It seems to be Ares AW 338 spring version or a copy, which is partially VSR-10 compatible, I have found this disassembly in youtube. http://youtu.be/57sCvo4Qk4A And the exploded diagram on the ASG website http://www.actionsportgames.com/files/asg/products/exploded-drawings/17242_Exploded.pdf You can upgrade the sears of the original trigger or change the trigger to 90º system (PDI now has the all the parts for this rifle http://www.x-fire.org/etop/m40.html). The cylinder internals are VSR-10 compatible, and it uses VSR type barrels and hop up buckings.
Tw1tch
Sweet, thanks a lot. It looks more complicated to disassemble than I'd hoped, possibly will get someone to install the mods for me. I'll probably invest in the new trigger system. That's a fair few different types of cylinder set. From what I understand I would want a VC cylinder set for the supposed improved range (if I was to go with a PDI cylinder). Do you reckon there would be a noticeable difference between the standard precision and the palsonite sets? So the current proposed list: PDI 90o V trigger set PDI VC AW338 cylinder set New higher power spring New bucking (More research to be conducted on the various ones out there) VSR barrel (possibly a tight and wide bore as I'd love to test the differences in range and accuracy myself)
Rainer1989
The list is OK, you will need new barrel spacers if you use a VSR bull barrel. I have owned both, the palsonite and the standard. The difference in performance is almost imperceptible, so I would chose according to the aesthetic you want. The VC cylinder improves the effective range but needs a slightly stronger spring to achieve the same power. Personally I would chose the VC.
