How get the worn finish on a metal receiver?

you know when you see guns from millitary photos and maybe movies most guns are worn and scatched due to being in the military, does anyone have experience in getting tht look on a metal receiver??

a bit like this but maybe a little shinier..

Um, use it a lot? batter other things with?

use wire wool. or chuck it out of a chopper on a regular basis

 

edit: sans gearbox on both counts.

A firm rag pad and a little jeweller's rouge would do it, wire wool is cheaper though but you need to be careful with it.

That specific gun was painted with some sort of buffible paints, then worn with OO steel wool, then a matte clearcoat was applied. That gun is actually for sale if you want it, its full blowback, 10 mags, 500usd, or something like that.
