Butter18c
I need/want to polish a sliden for my pistol, and want it nice and reflective. How would i go about getting this result? And if i wanted a stainless steel slide, How you i go about getting that? I tried sandpaper, but that came out with alot of scratches. And i do have alot of tools (polishers, sanders, etc...), as my godfather works on pumps and generators. Any help appreciated. -Alex
phishphansj3151
maybe some steel wool or a fine grain sandpaper and then maybe a final with a buffer.

Corporate_Black_Ops
I'd start off with a soft, high speed wire brush and follow that with fine wire wool. If you want a real mirror finish then you'll need to move on to jeweller's rouge and a buffer. Of course polishing any metal that high will mean that you'll leave fingerprints on it every time you touch it so you'll then need to seal it, I'd go for a shellac.
