renegadecow Posted February 3, 2007 Report Share Posted February 3, 2007 I was really drawn to the looks of Elfin Knights' Ganatan, which was a single shot pistol housing Tanaka 12ga shot shells. It was cute, yes, but not very practical as they don't come cheap. I wanted the look, but wanted it to use the new 40mm shells by CA which are highly reliable by my own experience as a majorly offensive room clearing device. This project started out with just mere sketches and eventually properly scaled line art. This was just supposed to be an intermission project of mine being that its pretty simple (start to finish took me only 3 days), but due to popularity and demand from releasing my prototype (locally) I'm now stuck with a handfull of orders for different variations. I couldn't borrow my brothers DSLR for the moment so these shots taken by my friends' sucky Sony digi cam would have to do for now. Side view, I even tranlated the color of the Ganatan to this beefed up version. I didn't translate the grip safety as the trigger pull is very, very heavy as it is. Heavy like pulling the trigger with the safety on, heavy. Just pull the trigger with murderous intent and it shoots quite properly. You can't see the mock rifling I did with these shots. I'll retake them but just to describe it, there are six lands and six grooves, equally spaced and are roughly 2.5mm deep. These riflings are also what keeps the GL shell from falling out. Top break, opened. The lock is simply a lever with a spring. I didn't make this an easy flick design knowing that my friends would flick it the instant they get a hold of it, and send my CA nade crashing onto someones head. Thats me on the right making a sales pitch. You could see how small the pistol is and as a full grip is absent on this model, can be easily stowed in a pocket which is how I carried it through games. It can also fit in some 5.56~7.62 mag pouches. And here are some of the "other" models that I will be slaving on for the next three weeks.
