I know that the harness-sling thing which is sometimes seen on the TV show Stargate SG1 is quite a sought-after specialist bit of kit. I've seen a few people custom manufacturing them and charging a fortune for them. Well, I'm here to tell you where you can buy them for peanuts. The harness-sling is actually... (drum roll)... from a strimmer! You know those manic lawn-mower things which look a bit like a metal detector with a tiny petrol engine at one end and a couple of blades which chop grass rather roughly?! Anyway, out in the jungle the vegetation grows kinda fast. There is a crew of guys who are paid to go around and hack back the vegetation every day using strimmers. I just noticed that they are all wearing SG1 style harnesses with the strimmers hooked onto them. I guess it's so the weight of the strimmer isn't just held through the arms. Anyway, I haven't bothered checking retailers or suppliers but if you're in the market for an SG1 harness I suggest you have a search around various suppliers of gardening equipment for a suitable strimmer harness. Sturmjager Posted August 19, 2008 Report Share Posted August 19, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if you could just mod something based on a MOLLE or ALICE clip, then just attach a plastic buckle onto it, then onto the sling. Either that, or i'm just a cheap *albatross*. But i'm looking to buy the CA P90 when it comes out, so this might be something i'll look into. Link to post Share on other sites
