  1. Not sure I fancy that wood there. Maybe try something like English or Turkish Walnut...or better yet, I'd like to see what it would look like in birdseye or quilted maple.
  2. Wow, and it looks like G&P finally got the ribbing around the magazine release button right too (or maybe I'm dreaming that they didn't already have it). Very nice looking gun...I love the old style M16s .
  3. Twine is so much stonger than nylon straps...didnyaknow? By far the most awesome homemade gear set up Dusk.
  4. Holy BeJesus!!! That's a feat in itself to get a gun that heavy to stand up and stay like that.
  5. That M9 bayonet looks menacingly long...
  6. That is such a sad sight to see. It is really making me want to cry knowing that there will be no more wonderful Beryl pictures to look at...
  7. Well if what we are looking at is in fact airsoft and not real steel, then it appears to me to be a G&G.
  8. True. I guess you guys realized the tendency for the retaining tabs to break on the Thermolds? I was just asking about the barrel because it doesn't look anything like an M4 Carbine barrel (14.5"), and I know that the M16 Carbines had 16" barrels and it looked dead on to one.
  9. I think this is as close as you are going to come for now.
  10. Not sure I fancy the Thermold especially with a Magpul on it. It kind of makes me glad that the Canadians did away with the Thermolds in favor of the STANAGs, but I guess it's different strokes for different folks. Is that a 16" barrel you used on the C8? The gun itself looks hot!
  11. Any significance as to why you used the number 55 or did you just pick a random number to mark on the stock?
  12. I figured that by you asking if he was a Marine, you were thinking that the Marines were the only place that he could have gotten the MARPAT. All I was doing was pointing out that you don't have to be a Marine to get hold of the real MARPAT, thus leaving open the possiblity that TheLair was/is not a Marine. No need to get all worked up over it.
  13. Anyone can get ahold of the real MARPAT. It is just the surplus MARPAT that the USMC rejected because of a missed stitch or slight fray, but really nothing that's detrimental to the durability of the BDU itself.
  14. Apparently I've either been misinformed or misread something somewhere then because I just looked further into it and came up with: It still doesn't settle for the matter of the countless pictures of "XM16E1s" (not airsoft) that I've seen with both ribs around the magazine release button, large Colt logo trademarks, and three-pronged flash hiders, but in the end I guess you were right.
  15. I am not speaking about the selector side of the gun. I am talking about the ribbing around the magazine release button. If you want to see for yourself what exactly I'm talking about here you go: The top gun is the original AR15 (M602) with no foward assist or ribbing around the magazine release button and the lower is an XM16E1/M16A1 (M603), and as you can see, it does have the ribbing around the magazine catch. So to summarize it: M601 (AR15)-No ribbing around magazine release M602 (AR15/XM16)-No ribbing around magazine release M603 (XM16E1/M16A1)-Ribbing around magaz
  16. By fence, do you mean the ribs around the magazine release? If so, the XM16E1 and later M16A1 (M603) did have the ribs, but the original AR15 (M601 and M602) model that featured no foward assist knob did not have them. I definately like the older style M16 there. It's given me ideas as to what I may build next.
  17. I always stare too, especially when I see someone bring their goose hunting field gun painted in camo with sling and 26" barrel out onto the trap line. It just looks plain rediculous next to a gun with $1000 worth of Turkish walnut...ah well. I guess we best be getting back on topic...
  18. Maybe when shooting rifles and such, but shotguns (as in trap, skeet, sporting clays, etc.), no, so technically you aren't right . That's why it is common to see to gun rests that attach to your shoe so that you don't get burnt powder and wad fouling all over you shoe. You try standing for 45 minutes to an hour on a trap pad in the middle of summer throwing your gun up for one shot, then down, reload, and then wait for four other shooters to take their shots...doing this one hundred times...and see how tired you get. End of rant.
  19. I'm never really that concerned about the wires showing up....
  20. That is the most innovative rear wiring idea I've seen yet besides the set up Dhindo came up with. Someone really needs to start a Dean's Connector club...they truly are one of a kind compared to the ever-too-common Tamiya connectors.
  21. Yay for Dean's connectors!
  22. What happened to the CAW Walnut stock Titleist? Well don't over-do it...as it looks just perfect at the moment.
  23. Looks good Hendrix. Not too over accessorized...clean and simple.
  24. Changing the background may help...just take the shemagh out of the pictures and use the hardwood floor...or you could use a flash, although it's going to make everything look shiny...
  25. I think it's nearly complete. All I want for it now is a Battlelab velcro patch panel...
