  1. hah, don't bring my real SR-25 in to this, you rascal! As for the ARES...wow, the trades are way off. The SASS isn't marked SR-25 at all, it's marked M110 (not XM110). Also all government contract rifles are made under the Knights Armament Co. lettering. Civilians get the Knights Manufacturing Co., it's also TITUSVILLE, FL not Vero Beach. Odd no one bothered to check that against photos.
  2. Lambo, since I see you tried mimicking the PEQ photo I did of my Knights guns, my photo suggestion would be darken your lighting and do a longer exposure, you'll be happier with the results. And the laser beams will stand out more.
  3. So IF anyone wanted to see some pics of the Knights SR-25 EM Carbine, head on over to the Real Steel thread. I've got some photos there of the EM Carbine from this past weekend.
  4. There is not perceptible delay in use. That said it's an interesting system. I'm a big fan of the PVS-21s I've been using on long term loan for a while now, though for practical use I still get a LOT of life out of my 14s.
  5. Finally mastering this Canon. Lit by nothing more than 1 candle:
  6. That's a copy of the Enhanced Compensator Kit (which is what Chris WAS using), the super tap is much shorter, more like a scaled up triple tap. They look similar but the super tap is about 2/3rds the overall length of the ECK.
  7. A couple I'm doing for a gear manufacturer:
  8. Since the Triple Tap comes up a lot I figured I'd share a photo I took from SHOT 2010 I found on my drive (now that I have a computer and can sort through them). Here's your peek at the Super Tap: I'm sure you can guess which is the super and which is the triple. I'm sure you'll see airsoft copies soon enough. Though from what I hear even this design has since changed.
  9. My last computer was the company macbook pro, so this is a major step up.
  10. After months of waiting, a few false starts, I finally have a new computer. I've been living off an iphone for the last 2 months:
  11. The raw inconel ones were just that, completely raw. Iconel doesn't rust or oxidize so it's totally fine. The nickel coated ones were a kind of gray/brown from the nickel coating. Because of that the outer diameter wasn't affected really. But yes, actually seeing the amount of carbon build up is important. On the real ones you need to clean the slots after a high round count, as they start to kind of close up, and the gun turns in to "puff the magic dragon" mode, especially on an SBR. It's not really on topic to post it, but I have a photo of my 11.5" SBR kicking out a jet of flame about
  12. All that work and now the production units (real ones) are solid black. They were nickel coated so they were this mid-tone gray. Something weird happened on the real ones when they went to black, it bumped out the outer diameter just enough to mess with the real suppressor. Long story short, the silver ones are no more, now they're black again.
  13. Maybe this is the schism between how I run my real guns, vs airsoft. But you're not directly looking for COMFORT, you're looking for the most POSITIVE control you can attain on the rifle. You don't walk around driving your rifle out all the time, so it's not like you need it to be comfortable 100 percent of the time. Maybe it really doesn't work for you, but from experience I'd maybe split the difference and move it forward a bit more, otherwise you're relegating that nice long rail to what amounts to a 7" carbine rail with everything pushed back.
  14. I would move your AFG as far forward as will comfortably allow. By having it back that far you're going to create some bad shooting positions, and given that you've got the SR-15 style rail I'd use that space effectively.
  15. I have yet to put up the last class photos. I'm waiting on a new computer. But my flickr is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/isaac_marchionna/ Again, I wish the LCD was completely clear, but whatever, the LCD is a tool to review shots. And frankly this camera will be replaced in 1-2 years anyways.
  16. Well, the 5D is back. All systems go. Still some dust under the LCD. But that's purely cosmetic. Annoying? A tad. But the photos it takes are still top notch, and frankly no use getting bent out of shape considering it's the PHOTOS that matter, and you replace bodies but keep your lenses. Now I just need a computer to actually ya know...work with the photos.
  17. I don't care if I beat up the externals of my cameras, as I usually pass them down to family members when I'm done with them. But if the photo quality takes a hit that's when I flip mah *suitcase*.
  18. Pretty much. However the TSA hates paying for damaged equipment, and I've heard often times they'll just give you a waiver for a free flight instead of stepping forward to acknowledge they screwed up. Fingers crossed the camera comes back okay tomorrow.
  19. I will say this, MAD props to Canon USA. After coming back from a Magpul class the TSA pulled me aside and searched my carry on. After searching me they pulled my 5DMk2 out, and dropped it full force on the ground, denting the side casing, breaking the AE motor and focus assembly, etc. basically the camera was trashed. I sent it in to Canon USA last tuesday, got their on friday. Last night I get a notification it was all repaired, will be back tomorrow, and the repairs were FREE. For what was negligence and obviously impact damage they still fixed it. *fruitcage* YEAH!
  20. That before or after Chris called you a cock fag on that drill? But seriously, you should NOT be running AFGs based on what looks cool. You need to run them on what FEELS best. And be honest with yourselves. Just because you bought the AFG doesn't mean you need to force yourself to use it. Simply put if it doesn't feel better, then move on. I run an AFG on two of my guns, but the AFG absolutely will NOT work for my Larue SBR. Hence it's a theory based product.
  21. I think if I shot more run and gun photography, i.e on the move, I'd opt for a nikon. Their focusing system is just fantastic. That said, I compared the D3Xs images to the 5Ds and the 5D was smoother overall and well, 1/3rd the cost. Again we're talking pro-cameras here. I'm doing some projects that have already easily paid back the cost of the Canon. But I still love my Nikon D80.
  22. Right now the 5Dmk2 and 1DS4 are basically the kings of ISO. Nikon's D700 actually looks better than the D3X.
  23. 1/40, that's only 800 ISO. Here's the Canon 5D2's 6400, which while displaying some noise is still VERY usable:
  24. I'm kind of a fan of this one, from the top of the Rio in Las Vegas.
