  1. Making the rail mount lower profile would be a good move. It drives me nuts how not low profile the Contour ARC rail mount is. And the home brew solutions I've seen people do to adapt regular Ops-Core mounts haven't been the strongest and most reliable applications from my experience.
  2. And if you're still concerned, call KWA's customer service: http://kwausa.com/customer-service/contact
  3. The US Customs seizing copyright infringing items inbound into the USA is one thing. And is definitely a gamble. Them seizing non-ATF approved items that they have classified as illegal importation of firearms (regardless of our intended end use) is a risk on another level. I just worry about the day they may decide to escalate matters beyond seizure ... like fines or worse. Sounds extreme, but in this US political climate around gun control, and especially given recent events, it wouldn't shock me in the least.
  4. Additionally, for those of us in the US, the gunsmodify receiver may not be ATF approved and importation of one (if found to be classified as such) may be illegal.
  5. To be clear, if you live in CA, you can purchase from KAC or from Lawmens (their civilian retailer). However, they have a policy that they won't SHIP to CA due to the mess up with the CA safe guns list ruling (in which rather than specify the SR15 platform CA lawmakers accidentally just said RAS/RIS thereby screwing up the entire KAC purchase-ability). So you can buy from them and have the items shipped to somewhere out of state (outside of CA, but within the US). Generally it's a pain in the butt. So to avoid all that headache, there are still many MANY retailers and dealers throughout the US
  6. Much better pic. Not sure how abrasive the stipple texture is, but if it's the least bit aggressive you might want to lightly sand with fine grit sand paper the area that the webbing between your thumb and index finger contacts with the rear of the grip. Using light strokes and fine grit sand paper will allow you to keep the look of the texture you've created, and yet reduce the aggressiveness so that it doesn't bite into the webbing of your thumb and index finger as you shoot and as you manipulate the weapon. Good job though! I like the look and the effect. How do you like the stippling a
  7. Nicely done. For the Kydex holster, get an M&P 9mm Full size holster. It'll fit better than the Glock holsters.
  8. Yeah, I'm not crazy about the weathering job, but the paintjob is really effective. He does the same paintjob on all his RS guns. The suppressor looks a lot like his real one that he has back home in Florida. What blows my mind is he doesn't even bother breaking down the guns or masking them off. He just grabs the guns as is, and paints them. RS or airsoft ... same treatment. Nutty.
  9. Ahh. Yeah. In that case unless it's a known entity, you should generally take what is said with a grain of salt.
  10. I like my teeth. When I attend classes I'm not advertising that I also enjoy airsoft. At least not initially. Once the instructor sees that I'm serious about shooting and learning and focused ... if I'm comfortable with the instructor I'll mention it. But you can tell a lot don't care for it. There's just too much stigma associated with airsoft. Also, most of the classes I'm attending nowadays are LE and MIL only so they assume that everyone in the class are serious shooters regardless of the end use application of what is taught. As for handing out bad advice just to mess with peop
  11. Absoulutely. The ability to clear your weapon without shooting it is extremely important and currently a lacking quality in GBBRs. Would love to have one, but the fact that you can accidentally have more than one round in the barrel makes things even more complicated. I'd keep the cleaning rod handy but I don't think I'd use it regularly to clear out a BB rather than simply shooting it out, since the cleaning rod increases the chances of tearing you bucking and adding wear to the inner barrel.
  12. It's definitely done for expediency. While that cleaning rod is long, it's screwed together and is designed to be stored in a small, short pouch. So the fact that it's left on the side of his weapon in it's extended form tells me that is a conscious decision he made. As for my friend doing it, he does it on one of his RS ARs (he's got a lot) and has it on his LM4 simply to replicate what he does on his real AR. I strongly advocate keeping a cleaning rod handy with you in the field, including the airsoft field. I've seen plenty of situations in which myself or someone else in my team have
  13. You could ask Ares Gear. He's been known to make custom belts once in a blue moon.
  14. The following parts are RS: • Aimpoint Micro H-1 w/ LaRue mount • Troy 13" BattleRail • Crane Stock • Troy front BUIS and KAC rear 600m BUIS • SF M300A with SF dual tape switch and HSP Dropwing and IR filter • Vickers sling • Generic steel cleaning rod
  15. Good point. I was going to suggest a bicycle inner tube band.
  16. From my understanding it's done for efficiency and expediency. When things go bad and your gun goes down you don't want to waste precious seconds breaking out your cleaning rod, screwing it together etc etc. I think that's the logic anyway. Not something I do personally, but it makes sense to me. Every current and former SF dude I've come across has their own tips and tricks that they've picked up over the years. Things they've deemed necessary for their personal survivability. They don't all see eye to eye on techniques, strategies, etc. C'est la vie. As for needing a cleaning rod often
  17. My buddy's KWA LM4: He went a little heavy on the upper receiver weathering in his quest to make the gun look like his RS AR15. But he generally likes it which is all that matters.
  18. My buddy's KWA LM4: He went a little heavy on the upper receiver weathering in his quest to make the gun look like his RS AR15. But he generally likes it which is all that matters. The cleaning rod strapped to the side of the gun is a trick he picked up from a class with Kyle Defoor a while back. It's a pretty great shooting gun.
  19. How secure does the contour feel velcro'ed onto the helmet. I tried the same with mine (still have velcro on it in fact) but it didn't feel quite as stable/secure/rock solid as I'd like.
  20. Yup. That's the one. Last belt you'll ever need. I wear mine daily.
  21. Cerakote Burnt Bronze on that third one? I've been trying to decide what color to cerakote my second PredatAR. Thinking Patriot Brown rather than FDE.
  22. Problem is SocomGear/Madbull are designing their rails with with the upper section not milled out with the specific intent of preventing the use of a gas tube. It's not an oversight. It's done on purpose to be different from the RS version.
  23. There's a gas block in there but probably no gas tube. The space needed for a gas tube is usually at the rear of the rail where the gas tube bends up. I think the method they used on the Noveske rails was far better for the airsoft consumer.
