  5. I got the grips at the local gunshop. They were about $50 and came with screws and frame inserts. Here is the only pic I have of their original color: I probably have the packaging still (I think I do) and could post up the name of the company later... but, next time I need .45 grips, I think I'll try out here: http://www.alumagrips.com/main.taf?p=0
  6. mathub, that's a sexy compact Here's the latest on my raptor 2 (last pics were back on page 31 or 32) Painted a few more bits black, and added some r/s slim grips (wood. then painted those black, too) One of these days I'll try to take some better "artsy" pics of it.
  7. Both guns are maruzen, but the pistol grips are different. The defender grip says maruzen on it, and has larger holes for the stock. The aftermarket top folder grip says remington on it... I transfered the metal stock part from one grip to the other (so as not to mess with the gas tank in the 1100 grip) Hope that clears it up and here it is open:
  8. Speaking of M1100 defenders Here's mine (aquired from fishsquatch) I added the top folder from the guarder (or g&p-don't remember) kit for the ca870. I needed to make new pins as they were different sizes from the maruzen (the silvery bits).

  10. I'm probably going to leave it low-tech. I'm thinking a little less barrel in a "desperado" sort of way. I'm not too keen on lasers in airsoft, anyway. I'd be concerned with burning out somebody's retina.

Well, I'm making a few assumptions: 1) the 8mm version holds 5 bbs (for a 40mm bb space) & the 6mm holds 7 bb's (for a 42mm bb space) so my assumption is the pink part and the silver part of the respective shells are the same length. 2) based on the pic posted by rapier (stolen and posted here ) the brass parts look the same. 3) Making common parts is cheaper than making a bunch of different parts, so I assume the outer barrel housing is common, the gas section of the shell is common, and the blanks used to make the bb chambers are common (with the only differenc
  12. The same amount of gas should deliver the 8mm at a lower velocity than 6mm (becuase the 8mm are heavier and require more energy to get up to the same speed). That's my take on 8mm vs 6mm. Based on rapiers pics, the gas chamber part of the 8's look to be the same size as the 6's.

Preface: I thought there were too many pics to clog up rapier's thread, it's not quite a full blown review (couldn't quite figure it out, anyway) and what the fashizzle, I haven't started a thread lately...   20. lol. Wow. I have a bad rep. When I told some of the boys on my team I was getting it, they said "what the hell are you going to do to that thing, chop it?" Well, I can't really see anything that needs chopping. So for now, the para will be spared the hacksaw. My gun's are my babies...they know I wouldn't hurt them on purpose. But the toy story ref, I could imagine all of them opening fire on me when I walked into the shop "Don't Hurt The Guns!"

  22. I'll be working on some low profile grips, and I think a little more black paint is in order. The more I look at it, the more I want to do the ultra rcp II treatment: http://www.kimberamerica.com/special.php (top of the page) -bobbed beaver (tail) -bobbed hammer -sight trench I'm not overly fond of the grooved grips, but I'll figure something out. As for building a gun, I suppose if you sent me the stuff, I'd put it together. To spend $650 to $700 to have that stuff shipped, then assemble, then sell, doesn't appeal to me
  23. WA V10 fitted with an aftermarket Kimber Ultra Raptor II kit (Prime) So far I've painted the beavertail and mainspring housing black. I'm trying to decide on what else to paint, and what to leave chrome.

It's got m16a2 trades and the funny style d-ring area (not threaded...uses the little plastic insert to keep the barrel in) I'm not really sure the brand, as I got this gun 3rd hand (at least) and it was pretty well abused when I got it. But the imprtant bits were intact (foregrip and stock). I did a quick search at wgc and den and I can't seem to find a similar front. but here's pics of mine edit- Cali, check the top pic...painted black The rest are from before I painted it.
