1. My C7A2 in its current configuration, featuring an AN/PVS-502 NOD. This 502, and another like it, is on loan to my team, the South Manitoba Rifles, from Operation East Wind, the annual nine day mil-sim event we participate in. For that event, held in Oklahoma, we'll mount them on C7A1 rifles, which are correct for the cold war period East Wind seeks to recreate.
2. Rifle #1 WE M16A3 modified to C7A2 - White RA-Tech bucking with 500mm Angry Gun 6.03 Rifle #2 WE M16A3 modified to C7A1 - White RA-Tech bucking with 510mm RA-Tech 6.01 Rifle #3 WE M16A3 modified to C7 - Blue RA-Tech bucking with 500mm Angry Gun 6.03 All three of my personal rifles will hit a man-sized target at 60m. I didn't intend to have three nearly identical test beds, it just sort of worked out that way. I have no real preference between Angry Gun barrels or the RA-Techs - I've built many rifles using both types, and they've all been accurate and consistent performers.
3. I had no idea a real steel upper could be adapted to work with airsoft components. That's certainly not something the laws of most counties would ever allow.
4. My Hi-Power as it looks today; Now with black grips, it looks more like a Canadian Forces, Inglis-made service pistol. The tangent sight is still wrong, but other than that it's a fairly good replica.
5. I've never been able to tune a gas rifle that low. With the NPAS wide open, I'd be looking at no less than 325 fps with .25s. YMMV - I'm using full length M16s with TB barrels and other upgrades.
6. Redwolf Labs - Review of the Angry Gun Recoil Kit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU5kCXCzmBg I have serious issues with their test methodology, but it gives us an impression of what the Angry Gun system can accomplish.
7. I just bought a used CO2 magazine, with the hope of using it once the weather turns colder. And you guessed it... the damned thing leaks at the cartridge seal. If someone does a have a fix in the works, mark me down as someone who'd like to give it a try.
8. No need to hold off, I'd say. My Hi Power was drilled and tapped for a hop-up screw, but didn't come with one, and that's fine: it still shoots flat and straight out to 20-25m. The trigger pull is a bit heavy, but pretty much the way most military handguns would be. The trigger break is reasonably smooth and predictable. Maintenance is easy to perform, and the internals appear to be of good quality. It's all good.
9. Lot's of good info in this old thread. Thanks! I just added a WE Hi Power to my collection, and everything about it looks promising so far. Our team is based on the Canadian Forces of the late 80's, early 90's - the final years of the Cold War, and we provide much of the Canadian contingent to Operation East Wind, a nine day long, Cold War mil-sim event held each spring in Oklahoma. The Canadian made Inglis Hi Power was the standard sidearm of the CF back then, and is still in use today. The WE's tangent rear sight is all wrong for our CF representation, but other aspects of
10. I wouldn't try this with my G39, but I'm impressed a hell it can be done!
11. I do like the idea of an aluminum nozzle, but, at four times the cost of a WE replacement nozzle, that's a bit pricey. Also, RA-Tech's nozzle probably shoots too hot for my local games. I hope they come out with a lower velocity version - that, I might buy.
12. I thought I'd show you how my Canadian C7A2 build is coming along... that's my rifle below a teammate's C7A1. My teammate and I each bought a WE closed bolt M16A3. His has, thus far, remained largely unaltered, in the style of a C7A1. My rifle, on the other hand, has evolved more in the direction of the current C7A2 standard, and is now using the open bolt system. I still have some odds and ends to acquire, like an appropriate ambi-fire selector, and maybe a Tri-Ad rail, but it's far enough along to well suit our team's Canadian Army representation. I also hope eventually to get a blank lo
13. I'd say Inokatsu got the fit between parts just about right. Most standard Colt 1911s I've owned or handled had a fairly loose fit between the slide and the frame. The grip safety is another area where a loose fit was to be expected. 1911s made by other manufacturers usually had even sloppier tolerances. The very first step in turning a 1911 into a competition pistol is tighten the fit between the slide and frame.
14. I'm surprised by RA-Tech's assertion gas can leak from the connection where the two WE nozzle parts join. The connection on my nozzle seems tight and precise. Does anyone else see that as a source for gas leaking? Would it really matter?
15. No, it was more than a slight Pffftt. They may have just half filled the mags with air, but they were definitely pressurized - equal to about half a mag full.
