  1. My russian gear tends to be more garbage than my US-pattern kit.
  2. Team mate's Ino AK after spending the night in the cold:
  3. I don't like this particular pic (it's overshopped IMO ), but your gallery of the same event is excellent!
  4. Not really an AK, but.... Black furniture, shortened stock.
  5. This is from the red-alliance forums: http://www.shooter.hu/pkm_meretek.rar
  6. The PKM was put together from bulgarian, hungarian, and handmade parts. The donor was an A+K M249, also used some KLS parts. Barrel, trunion, receiver, feed tray, feedcover, flash hider, trigger box was machined precisely to fit the internals. A hopup chamber adapter was added, and the whole hopup unit is contained inside the outer barrel. All the controls work (safety, charging handle, feed cover and tray, quick barrel change).
  7. Our three-man sniper team from today... We had much fun, I'm not sure about the guys on the receiving end.
  8. Just tested mine with an ICOM F25 in -2 Celsius enviroment... Everything works fine (sound quality, mike, ptt button, amplification levels). The headset is reasonably comfortable for a full day wear.
  9. Post processing is not an option, it's a must... Shoot only in RAW (NEF for Nikon?) and get a good converter (Lightroom or Capture One).
  10. That would be the cheapest for most people... First time DSLR buyers have no idea what and why they need (if they need it at all). Since bodies lose value a lot faster than lens, beginners should get the cheapest body. Without the proper skills and lens, they will take the same badly focused and composed pics even with a $6000 eos 1Ds mk3.
  11. Bodies come and go... Get the cheapest body with the best lens you can afford.
  12. Sorry, I've no idea. Yes, on the parts and mags. Refinishing is done by a local airsmith. Original paint is removed by thinner and metal brush, then a shop does the bluing. Looks great, weathering is easy, but it's prone to rust.
  13. Elite russian units use western rail systems, stocks, and optics (Eotech, Aimpoint, ACOG) so those guns do look american these day. For example: http://web.axelero.hu/szlejer2/brat6.jpg I don't like open red dots (for practical reasons), so I'll stick to the Aimpoint (or maybe a micro dot). For some of my AKs I prefer the more authentic look and no optics.
  14. Another configuration, work still in progress:
  15. ...And one gas tube bracket is missing along with the screws (broken threads), flash hider is unlocked (need to dremel an extra notch), but hey, thanks for letting me know.
  16. List for which gun? The one below started out as a KLS RK-08, then it was refinished (blued), aluminium outer barrel was replaced with machined steel, plastic stock was replaced with the skeletal one. The rest should be obvious (Surefire P9, SAW grip, etc) I prefer to dump the cleaning rods (useless, keeps rattling) and I also see the same on some russian SF/SWAT pics.
  17. Yes, shorter barrels tend to be more accurate than the longer ones...
  18. Photos were taken by a friend of mine w/ a 5D MkII + L-series lens. For effects, I guess Lightroom.
  19. No one uses the TM (I guess you meant the new 74MN) as a base for that here... With a Dboys/KLS AK and RS parts it's definitely cheaper, if you can source the parts and do the work. As reference, a complete, deactivated AMD is under 200 eur.
  20. Funnily, most hungarians are building AMD conversions from RS parts and KLS AKs other than buying this rifle. But it's still on my shopping list.
