v3 gearbox problems

Hi all, been rebuilding a Version 3 gearbox, (DE UMP if it makes a difference, doubt that it will)

the problem is as follows: when reassembled, the motor WILL turn the gears and compress the spring and the piston, but pretty much as soo as the piston is in the rearmost position, the motor will start skipping over the teeth on the bevel gear. obviously the spring wont decompress/fire becuase theres still a few teeth of the sector gear enegaged and the ARL.

i'm absolutely stumped. any ideas?

parts list:

stock DE v3 gearbox shell

stock DE gears

stock DE motor

Prometheus M100 spring

'5ku' metal bushings (they were cheap and the fit brilliantly)

stock DE piston/piston head/cylinder/cylinder head.

stock DE trigger unit/tappet plate

could it be that the motor's not strong enough to turn the M100? or possibly the mesh between the pinion and the bevel gear?

oh, running it on an 11.1v lipo, as thats the only thing i've got with a mini connector, so it definately ISNT a low battery ;)

if the bevel and pinoin are skipping either the shimng is poor or the motor height is too low.

if you strip it down you should eb able to see where the motor has been skipping on the bevel gear

if the mark is accross the whole tooth its the shim, if only the lower portion of the tooth then its

the motor height.

final thoughts, is the pinion spinnig on the motor shaft? do the bushings allow any play, or

misalignment/poor spur gear mesh?

Turns out it wasnt the pinion gear skipping on the bevel, the sector gear had two of the little teeth (not the ones that pull the piston) sheered off, so that was why it doesn't release, because obviously it wasn't turning far enough to let it go.

PROBLEM SOLVED!
