pace
Hi Guys Doing a new build and looking to try my hand at an open class pistol. My aim is to create a fast cycling accurate gun with very little recoil. So far I've found the following slide which looks like it will do what I want. Does anyone have any experience with this slide or know of better 3.8 option to use? Slide by AS http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Accessories_Metal_Bodies_Slides_GBB_Airsoft_Surgeon_Dlask_38_Super_Open_Set_Two_Tone_For_Marui_5_1_Hi_CAPA.htm I was going to marry this up with following frame, Frame by ProG4 http://www.prog4.com/db/product-show.asp?refno=AR1373 Any thoughts would be most helpful. mimesis
Where will the end of the scoop cut on the slide be w.r.t. the front end of the chassis when the slide is in battery? Will it match up? Will the front of the chassis be a little ahead of where the cut curves down and ends? Prog4 is the OEM for AS, so there should be good fitment compatibility between slide and chassis.
pace
This is what I cant work out, the title says its for a 5.1 frame, so dare I say it, I would assume it should fit the 5.1 frame. But like you say, basic maths shows you 3.8 sat on 5.1 leaves 1.3 of over hang from the frame where the comp will end up sitting. From a practical point I cant see it being an issue as it will keep the comp in-line whilst the slide cycles, but aesthetically it could look a bit SH£$ On the other hand a 4.3 frame I would think would come up a little short and would probably look worse. That's why I asking if anyone has experience with it. As you say, they are potentially both made by Captain KK so again was assuming fitting shouldn't be to much of an *albartroth*. Firefly0
I would get this instead http://www.prog4.com/db/product-show.asp?refno=AR1748
pace
Firefly thanks, I saw that when browsing Prog4 before. He doesn't put enough information up about his creations. What makes you say get it? Have you seen one in action, it looks like a 4.3 slide? What length barrel does it take?
Bladerider
Is prog4 taking orders at the minute?

It is a 4.3 slide with a matching frame, also it's a hybrid with compensator which results in low recoil, i don't know about the barrel lenght sorry. Is prog4 taking orders at the minute? If you are talking about custom orders, they aren't taking nay at the moment, still very busy.
pace
I reckon you could hide a 6inch in there, this might do the trick nicely. No point in trying to re-invent the wheel as it were.
mimesis
Is prog4 taking orders at the minute? If you are talking about custom orders, they aren't taking nay at the moment, still very busy. Non-custom stuff, i.e. anything posted up on the website, is shipped out very fast. Next day, or day after. Bladerider, as you saw in my recent post in 2011 Pictures, I ended up placing two orders with him. Another upside is that the shipping is remarkably reasonable--better prices than any other HK seller.

Was just looking for a few parts not a full build....i wish Reason i ask is i mailed them a few months ago and i think i was misunderstood that i was asking for custom machined bits (my fault, yes i'm a tard!) Instead of sending more annoying mails i left it. @ mimesis did you just order without sending mails?
mimesis
A 5.1/1911 slide is approximately 7 1/2 inches long (bottom measurement). A 5.1/1911 chassis is approximately 5 7/8 inches long (top measurement). A 4.3 hi-capa slide and chassis are approximately 6 3/4 inches long, because the chassis extends to be flush with the front of the slide. I don't have a 3.8 to measure. Presumably, it is approximately 1.3 inches shorter than a 5.1, or 0.5 inches shorter than a 4.3. 7 1/2 minus 1.3 (1 5/16) = 5 15/16. 6 3/4 minus 1/2 = 6 1/4, so something is "off" somewhere. Let's say the 3.8 slide is ~6 inches. Allowing 5/8" for the last part of the "scoop", this would suggest that the scoop is going to curve down a little way in from the front end of a conventional 5.1 chassis. I wonder if there's a specific chassis that that Dlask slide is designed to mate with. BTW, this website confirms it's for a 6" barrel. http://www.fireflyairsoft.com/store/product/view/Airsoft_Surgeon_Dlask_38_Super_Open_Set_Two_Tone_For_Marui_5.1_Hi_CAPA-19015616-en.html
kimkafwan
Prog4 is the OEM for AS Well i'm not sure: http://www.saph.com.hk/actionair.html Saph products can be find from ehobby.
pace
OK nice simple question, feel a bit of a plank for asking but here goes. I'm searching for a nice shiny grip safety but all I can find is black nine ball ones. Do 1911 grip safeties work or is a dremel with polish time?
Bladerider
Same size far as i know and unless i'm very mistaken, if you look at the back of a 2011 style gun the body is kinda fitted around the safety. A TM safety will fit every other TM 1911
mimesis
Here you go. http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=634_639&products_id=8349 http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=634_639&products_id=9450 http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=634_639&products_id=12871 http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=634_639&products_id=8348 1911s/MEUs have an extra rod connecting the two halves at the back. Safeties for them have an extra cut-out to go round the rod. So I suppose in principal safeties for 1911s/MEUs should fit on hi-capas, but safeties for hi-capas won't fit on 1911s/MEUs without a bit of serious filing.

pace
Little update, I've decided on a few things and now getting the budget together to make the magic, but lets get some more opinions. http://www.prog4.com/db/product-show.asp?refno=AR1748 would prefer silver but thats out of stock. http://www.prog4.com/db/product-show.asp?refno=AR1691 Goes well with the grip http://www.boomarms.com/shop/item.cfm?id=PRIME-GRIP-IST-SV really really likey. http://www.dentrinityshop.com/pr_details.jsp?pid=15424 have this already as reviews said they were the best clone, from playing about with it seems very good. Internal wise, I have these already PDI 6.01 6" barrel, AS BBU AS reinforced nozzle Spring package I normally use guarder 150%
mimesis
You might want to try a Nine Ball bucking in place of the stock TM. Spring package: does that include recoil and hammer? Mount for the C-more?
pace
Oh yeah i've got nine ball bucking and routers already in the mags. Yeah thats both recoil and hammer The C-more is a serendipity style built in mount.
RacingManiac
IMO if you are going all the way with Prime Grip(pricy, but awesome, love mine), IMM kit, and all the other jazz, you might as well try to source RS C-More sight. They are not that expensive compare to Aimpoint stuff(150-200 USD in US), and the quality is much better, with a more defined dot and better glass material....A note on the Prime grip though. The included magwell does NOT work with stock TM mag bumper on the bottom of the mag, you will need to switch to the 5KU or Airsoft Surgeon CNC mag bumper....On my build with the grip since I was not doing a full race build I elected not to use the magwell at all... If I were to do my racegun build again, I'd not use Seredipity, nothing wrong with it, but now there are better way of mounting C-more, especially the 90 degree mount: http://www.prog4.com/db/product-show.asp?refno=AR1766 http://www.cpwsa.com/images/Matt%20Cheely%20Cmore%20Mount%203.jpg It puts the dot much closer to the bore, making it much more natural to shoot. When you shoot optic on traditional C-more, it takes a while to get used to the higher dot plane... Other stuff to change is the trigger loop, the wirecut steel one that ProG4 sells is great. Adjustable for slack....
pace
You do have a very fair point there. Thanks for the heads up on the mags. Well so long as the police car i went a bit to fast past the other day wasn't recording anything and I don't have an invite to court. I'll be parting with cash for a lot of new shinies. Would it be a slide ride c-more i'd be after?
pace
If i go RS what MOA should i bee looking for as i';ve seen the come in from 2 -
RacingManiac
Since for airsoft IPSC you are rarely going to shoot past 50ft, any dot size should work. Larger is easier to see, smaller is more "accurate". I got a 4MOA dot and it's pretty good for me. And I believe the one you are looking for is Slide Ride. Its the one that bolts onto the aftermarket mounts. The only other option is rail ride, which tend to work on rifle with the rail system.
pace
So a little update, Lovely IMM slide and frame have appeared from KK today, Decided as lovely as the prime grip is, I can't justify the price with a baby on the way. Have question regarding the frame, found a standard slide stop doesn't go all way through. What are my options? Thanks.
