Fullauto
I think they were going to be full wood/metal (I'd call up the thread where they were last discussed, but the search func is horrifically slow at the moment).
thegunrunner
"JAK103" is available for preorder at WGC now. $325 I might have to pick one up this summer when I'm back in Taipei to fit my extra set of Guarder wood on.
Sale
Yay, more unrealistic models... While such a gun never was in production (at least in large quantities), it perfectly well could exist, and very similar models are made for example by Arsenal. It's not a replica of a known existing rifle, but it's not complete nonsense either like the G3 SAS, which actually couldn't work in real life because the charging handle has too little travel. And they added a standard size AKS-74U conical flash suppressor, while the one on the AKMSU is enlarged (probably due to higher gas pressures from the 7.62x39mm rounds). Actually the muzzle pressure of 7.62 rounds is lower than 5.56 and 5.45 rounds. The enlargened muzzle device is most likely to give the gas piston more gas, because it will otherwise escape from the muzzle as the bullet leaves it quite early compared to a full length model. The other calibers have much higher pressure so they don't need such a large can. If I understood correctly, I was handling one of these G&G AK-103's in Hong Kong. Checked out the CA also, so the other gun must have been G&G. While it was a little bit less front heavy than the real thing, it looked very promising and the charging handle was nice to rack. Taking off the receiver cover revealed a much more realistic view than TM. -Sale
Tinkerton
sale's hit the button on the head. admittedly, while they aren't 'proper' (in my opinion) AK's (AKs come from either Izmash or Tula, nowhere else, and most definatly not arsenal ) they are at least realistic. Unlike the Beta Spets. if you compare any AK varient *every made* in real life, you can see that the spets, like the G3 SAS cannot exist in real life. this is due to the gas tube being too short (even AKSUs have full length hand gaurds, BS have half length) therfore not diveritng enough gas to rack the bolt. back on topic. that AK-103 looks NICE! Take another look at the picture of a real AKSU and the Beta Spetsnaz. You'll notice that even though the handguards are shorter, the gas piston is the same length. You need to look at the distance between the front and rear sights to determine the length of the gas piston. You'll then see that building a gun similar to the Beta Spetsnaz wouldn't actually be such a hassle, depending of course what kind of machinery you have. http://www.toiminta-ampujat.fi/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1076 -Sale
