HKG36
I'm going to be upgrading my CA36K to a full size with a 494mm inner barrel and was wondering do I need a new cylinder as the CA36K has 383mm inner barrel I believe so could someone answer this question quick? kryptik
In my experience, yes, matching the cylinder volume with the barrel size will give you optimal performance. Buy a Type-0 NB cylinder. Its also a 363/355mm inner barrel.
HKG36
Are they hard to install at all?
kryptik
Depends... is opening the gearbox hard for you?
HKG36
Never opened onewhich means I'll probaly have AirsoftAtlanta do it who makes the best one?
kryptik
Systema makes good N-B cylinders, never had a problem with them.

Maple-Leaf
Do you REALLY need to change the cylinder if you put a full-length barrel on it?
Sale
Not necessarily. Chrono the gun before and after to see. Extreme changes (like a 509 mm barrel on an MP5K) definitely need a new cylinder, but not necessarily the CA36K with a 494 mm barrel. -Sale
HKG36
Well there's a 131mm inner barrel increase which isn't a lot.
Maple-Leaf
Thanks - I was worried there for a second.
Five-sEvEn
Do you REALLY need to change the cylinder if you put a full-length barrel on it? Kindof... I've found through experimentation that a 200mm barrel on an MP5K cylinder will yield better results than the 170mm "Long" barrel made by KM. Althought I don't have a G36 cylinder to test, you could try sticking that barrel in and chronoing it. But I have found that the M4 cylinder maxes it's FPS at around stock barrel length (363mm). If you lose FPS, then you should change cylinders, but if FPS is the same or higher, you should be ok. You never REALLY need to do anything.. it's just that if you want to optimize your performance, it'd be better if you match things up properly.
The Saint
Are there any holes in the CA36K cylinder? If no holes, no problem.
HKG36
Well just to be safe I going to go with a new cylinder thanks for all the help guys.
Rapier
Are there any holes in the CA36K cylinder? If no holes, no problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It uses the M4 cylinder. I used an AK length (forgot the specs) bbl in my CA36K which is only about a 3 inch increase and noticed about a 15 fps loss.
HKG36
Been doing some research and I'm trying to make sure is the Systema Cylinder good as I've heatd there not and if not is the guarder cylinder any good?
Five-sEvEn
To me, any cylinder is as good as the next. I can get perfect compression on my stock TM cylinders (and the systema AK/M16 one I bought) so I don't see the need to get a replacement, except maybe those teflon coated ones for speed or something... Rapier
Either Gaurder or Systema will be just dandy. Cylinders are pretty hard to screw up. It's one of the few parts from an SRC or CYMA or WELL that I'll even consider using.
