Libris
Which, in this case, has absolutely NOTHING to do with the topic. 380fps is NOT 1J, It's 1.35J or 1ft/lb. 1ft/lb is the maximum that any self-loading weapon can shoot at without being classed as a Section 5 firearm, in UK law. The law states "any self loading weapon or weapon which discharges more than one shot with a single trigger pull [is banz0r3d!!!]" So, anything above 1ft/lb that fires full-auto is immediately illegal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes as per the "discharges more than one shot with a single trigger pull" Anything that fires above 1ft/lb and truly self-loads, such as a GBB, is immediately illegal. It might be argued that the PSG1 can fire above 1ft/lb on the grounds that it's semi-only AND that the mechanism isn't actually self-loading. There are seperate processes which load the gun and fire the projectile. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> None of these weapons fire more than one shot per pull of the trigger. They appear to be covered under existing air-weaons regulations rather than Section 5.
Stealthbomber
None of these weapons fire more than one shot per pull of the trigger. They appear to be covered under existing air-weaons regulations rather than Section 5. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> None of which weapons? The fact remains that GBBs and full-auto AEGs will probably be classed as S5 firearms if they fire at more than 1 ft/lb. Bolties and revolvers can probably be upgraded beyond 1 ft/lb and classed as air guns. A semi AEG might get away with this depending on if a police lab decided the gun was actually self-loading or not. Given that they'd have nicked you for the gun to have come to their attention, it's really not likely that they're going to be very open-minded about the nature of the mechanism though. The Chef
Just found this as I was digging about on the home office website... as you do. Definitions of prohibited weapons: Section 5 of the 1968 Act as modified by the Transfer of Functions (prohibited weapons) Order 1968 and ammended by the 1988 Act, the 1992 regulations and the 1997 Act.... blah blah... Those weapons and ammunition that are prohibited consist of: blah blah... 4: Any Self Loading or Pump Action Smooth Bore gun which is not an airweapon or chambered for .22 rimfire and either has a barrel less than 24 inches in length or (excluding any detachable, folding or retractable or other moving butt-stock) is less than 40 inches in overall length.... You'll note the bold bit, about self loaders being illegal as long as they are 'not an airweapon' which airsofts are..... This could mean that semi auto airsofts are hokey cokey over the 1j limit, and subject to the 12ft/lbs restrictions. someone with some more legal nouce can clarify this point.
