Pure English Brilliance

I dunno how much of this I'll actually get away with, as these are the opinions of my good friend Christopher ; or, `CrispyFur` as he has been known to us for a few years, due to his alledged plushy fetish (ewwwww...) that we insist he has and he usually insists he has too. This says something about the guy, but not as much as this email I received from him not 10 minutes ago:   `Saw the definitions for 'British' on some online dictionary that included such doosies as:     british:

Have you all given up?

It seems in my absence that, despite 7 months with no entries, I still seem to reign supreme in Arnies blogland. According to all the numbers, anyway, which can hardly be denied. And anyway what happened to GR and Hardcore Mitsuko (is this a sensitive topic...?) as I coudln't even see their blog up here. I know it's not all that important, but is the large amount of traffic on my blog (Versive) taken directly from Arnies - I would hope not.   Yet still I seem to be on top - by a huge margi

A New Arena.

I am hugely impressed and shocked that something as cool as this: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...ndpost&p=638612 is allowed to happen in airsoft.   I mean, come on?!!! Why the hell are we p**sing around in some woodland with rhododendrons and artificial 'nam villages when there's this abandoned factory area over in sunny Spain that looks pretty much like every cool urban invasion movie ever?!   Health and safety would throw a fit of course, but hey, screw 'em If i

A Day of Reckoning...

I’m really hoping this deal I’ve been putting together comes through. Its not worryingly huge but it is a bit of a prover, as it were. I’ve been negotiating with a potential customer who wants about a thousand railway sleepers (yeah I know, glamorous ain’t it? ) and a load of - wait for it – motorway crash barriers. I bet that’s got your blood racing, eh?   Its not exactly thrilling but its no worse than any other product I guess, and at least our reason for doing what we do is because i

Drunken Master

You'd almost think that I've not been drinking since the last post on alcoholism wouldn't you?   Not a chance. As I sit here sipping my G+T I realise how I have neglected this blog while I've been ill, and being drunk for virtually all of the same period hasn't helped me recover much. If only I could take time off work to get better, but then I realise the reason I can't do that is because I'll end up being p*ssed all day instead.   Ho-hum; oh the trials and tribulations of being an evil

Mission.

This is my online diary, so it may as well be a timeline into the bargain. Tonight is the night that I wrap up all the goodies that I'm giving away in the EvilHippy Spring Bargain Bonanza. Snappier titles have been known, but this isn't about any more marketing than it absolutely needs to be   It is now 8:02 PM precisely. I have not started yet. I'm gonna post this up as & when but as it is, I ain't done sh*t, captain. Perhaps another tin of carbonated alcohol will help things along ..

Training Day

Bloody hell it was cold out yesterday wasn’t it? Glad you agree. If you were an English woodland airsofter then not 36 hours ago would you have been rubbing your hands, avoiding lurking in the high terrain, making more than a few (dozen) trips to the car and sporadically taking nips of brandy to keep out the chilliest chill we’ve yet seen this year, or so I believe.   I only believe it was the chilliest because I personally felt colder than I have done before in this winter; it may actually h

Ramble ramble ramble

I can really appreciate the idea of righteous, abject laziness right now - its about the most boring time of year and it seems hard to get anything done. Bleh.   I'm about ready for bed now, how about anyone else?? *snores*   I'm immensely chuffed with the result on that M8045 Blade that I had repaired; its just an awesome pistol anyway - one that now works fully - and has excelled even more and revealed it true and glorious nature, like some mechanised and angular caterpillar: its a fully

The BBQ man cometh

Ah yes, barbecue season.   My first barbecue of the year, however, is a rather grander affair than usual - so far it involves about 40-50 people, we have two spit roasted pigs (and I've made the full-size spit roast myself and welded it all up with my Brother just for the purpose!) for food, a custom-made brick barbecue at about 4-foot in height just for the spit roast, 4 smaller barbecues to cook all the steaks, kebabs, burgers and fish, 2 marquees, a bunch of high-powered halogen lights for

The Parcel Farce Charm Offensive

Did I say charming? Yeah, and I actually meant it as well, which may come as a surprise but I have come to the opinion of late that the old buggers at ParcelForce really aren't that bad - of all the horror stories I have heard I have never had any of the relevant problems myself, and to be honest I think a lot of it simply comes down to how you deal with them: I always get what I want by being polite and very pleasant, but obstinate enough to get what I want to happen, happen..   Last Thursd

This is a cheat.

This is me cheating, because I am fed up with seeing my signature have such a stupid bloody phrase in it, and I'm fed up with knowing that my last post was just a drunken ramble. I've got 3 more articles coming soon, and those are just the ones I already know about so if I can get some time tomorrow at work (quiet Saturday, pweeeeeaaaase!!!) and I can maybe get some photos too (which one of the little articles really requires) then I should be able to flood you all with yet more nonsensical wh

Its all about me, you see.

Wow didn't I have a great weekend? Well did I? Well yes I did. Well, I'll just talk to myself for the next few hours shall I? Hmm yeah I an see where this is going - straight to that section of society to whom the word `sectioned` is best applied. Probably best to share, then -   I've been going climbing every week with this girl called Sarah, for a few months now; we actually went to school together but practically never spoke at that time, we bumped into each other at the start of the Summe

Another fool shares his world

Evening all...   Okay, so instead of making bold statements about what this blog is meant to be and what I hope to acheive, I'll list the truth about what it'll end up becoming:   A rant about my alcoholism Airsoft musings and thinkings, mostly me saying `I could do this`, and `I could do that`. A load of self-fluffing guff about recent skirmishes A load of grievances about recent skirmishes Hopefully, believe-it-or-not, detailed notes on airsoft-related carpentry... With a bit o

The best airsoft gun available? Kar 98 episode: 1

2nd entry in, and it's a biggie!! No apologies for length; you love it xxx     So I have a Tanaka Kar 98. Yes, you can stop hissing now (down, Sid!) but I deserve it, honest. I probably did some incredibly altruistic things in my past lives and I for one believe in retro-active Karma.   I have been having problems with it, but I still think of it/her (stopbeingsosad Hippy) as an amazing piece, easily the highest quality firing action, at least, out of all my guns.   Yet I find myself

I had 8 squillion pints, I did.

I know I've got a bit of an alcohol problem - I don't own a pub yet!! Haha!!! - yeah that's bloody hilarious until you realise that you drink on your own so much more than you do with other people that you now start to hide the bottles from your family.   I know the signs.   I try to put the beers on show now a bit, just in case, y'know, the old man says something; like he did last week and I defended it: I defended it!! The signs, people. That's one of them.   *sips beer*   And I'

8mm goodness. For a given value of `good` - ?

I love 8mm. I really, really love it, seriously. I do not get geeky about guns that much and I don't care about the technical stats and abilities of them as much as I should I suppose, but I must say I am smitten by the things: I really am an 8mm fanboy.   It started small, as these things often do, with just about the smallest gun you can get in airsoft (if not the whole world) and that was a Derringer.   It's laughable now, but even then I loved it; loading the double breech with 2 rou

Spoiling people's fun.

The way the government works *almost* amuses me, it's like they're serially ruining good things for enterprising people.   I work for a company that sells a lot of railway sleepers, This may seem extraneous at the present time, but bear with me. Railway sleepers were, by and large, coated in coal tar creosote when they were first manufactured, because it's a damn good preservative. It has preserved and maintained most nations garden fences for the last 100 years, for one thing.   We used

Am I on my freakin' own here or what?

I just noticed the `latest entries` on the main blogs page are all the same damned entries as they were several days ago - c'mon people! Who cares if you've got work, or uni, or family or friends or pets or girlfriends/boyfriends; the world needs to hear you!   That part of it that both lives on Arnies and also gives a flying fruitcage what a bunch of bloggers think   There are so many things to natter about - look, I'm even nattering about the fact that you lot ain't!!   Writer'

I'm not sure, but it could be the Black Velvet.

Guiness and champagne. Why not, eh? Lets take two great drinks and mash them up together, guaranteed to make us throw up all over the nearest parked car, ho-ho!! That's what I call a good saturday night!!!!   One thing: It's actually friday. Another thing: it only bloody works, y'know.   The glories of both create a substance that truly is greater than the sum of it's parts. How often do you actually find something like that? Not very, is the answer.   Try it now for the sake of y

Honour bound to kill you.

It is a truly great thing when you are genuinely happy to die. It means you are content with your acheivements, satisfied of your life's efforts, and have a succesor you are proud to have as your descendant and protege. You have come to terms with your mortality and the cessation of your own brief existence can be reconciled by the knowledge of other's flourishing timelines that move forward in your wake. The acceptance that one can only acheive so much in one lifetime is, hopefully, a comfort

Battery Shenanigans

One thing I really get wound up about are my poxy bloody batteries. I thought that ithe situation of cr*ppy charges would be resolved when I got my shiny new TLP charger, but nooo, that's just made me genuinely annoyed about it, because before I could lay all the blame at the feet of the fact that I didn't have an automatic, or `smart`, charger.   I'm going back to a plug & wire jobby, I swear.   The damn thing failed completely (failed I tell you failed!!! Ahem.) failed, I say, to ev

Education Education Edu..Whatnow?!

A mention here for my father and all people like him: he was a devoted teacher for 37 years. Now, there is a widespread belief out there in the public domain that teachers are some alien breed of sadists or are simply inept, at best, purposefully and maliciously intent on disrupting people's youths, at worst.   The sad fact is that, in my reasonable experience and knowledge, there is slight justification for even the most negative extremes, and a fair bit of evidence that seems to corrobor

Too many guns?

Sometimes I think about my collection and think "Oh dear god, I really cannot be bothered to like these things any more" Really, I do. It almost becomes an effort to give a damn about it all and, if I'm being perfectly honest, the forums here are the only thing that keeps me going in the world of airsoft sometimes.   Now maybe, just perhaps-maybe-ish, my interest is renewed mostly out of a sense of greed, one-upmanship and arrogance. Just maybe.   I won't deny that I look at the boards

If something's worth Doing it's worth OverDoing.

That's been my philosophy for years now, and is the reason I have a bit of a drink problem. Happily, though, this also continues into airsoft and is the reason for my quite sizeable collection.   You gotta take the rough with the smooth, eh?   It all started with the clubbing scene; got into that at the age of about quite-some-years-younger-than-I-should-have-been and ended up with a fondness for all kinds of things-that-I-shouldn't-have-been-allowed (although I am the first to admit it
