  1. Yup, their BDUs are made out of real Crye Multicam Fabric. However, I don't feel that either one of those two manufacturers' BDUs are terribly noteworthy. They charge a lot more mostly because when they first came out there really wasn't any competition and when they had BDUs made, they made low quantities of BDUs. Then Propper and Tru Spec came along and they were able to make large volumes of the BDUs thereby lowering production costs which in turn lowered the per unit cost to the consumer (although possibly sacrificing QC slightly). Both TAD and SKD's BDUs are good quality and have nice
  2. Multicam is owned by Crye Associates. Crye Precision is the manufacture and sales subsidiary of Crye Associates. So in a roundabout way Crye Precision does own the Multicam pattern. The armor components and various combat BDUs are a joint development between Crye Precision, Blackwater USA & Michaels of Oregon. Tru Spec and Propper buy fabric direct from Crye Precision. There aren't any manufacturers out there producing the fabric other than Crye Precision. The variances you see between different articles of clothing, especially between different clothing manufacturers is mostly due to
  3. Did you just offer to trade a pair of $30 knee pads for a vest that may cost upwards of $1000!?!!
  4. I did a write up in this thread a while back.
  5. I have always found the latches on TangoDown grips to be extremely stiff due to the strength of the springs. It's difficult at best to be able to pull the latches down and make sure the rail is cleared during removal of the grip. Maybe you got lucky with your grip, but myself and every other person I've ever talked to has always complained about ours. The 512 is the exact same length as the 552. The only external differences being the switches at the back which on the 552 has an option to switch the sight to NV mode. As for the China made replica vs. the HurricanE replica, ge
  6. Have you ever tried taking one of those off? Those put serious wear on any rail...
  7. Unless of course he wants to keep that shiny new tan finish. The Tango Down will take the finish off the bottom rail... stat. If that is a concern, I'd put a Coyote Brown KAC Vertical Grip on there instead. Nice rifle though. Nice EOTech too!
  8. Good point. Maybe the built in HUD in the Oakleys is setup with a mini-camera on the outside of it so that when viewing through the HUD, it actually appears transparent with a display overlayed on top of it. I can't imagine any soldier willingly allowing themselves to loose that much peripheral vision otherwise.
  9. He aims using the Gun Cam.
  10. Real LE Eagle Industries CIRAS? Curious what brand the pouches are.
  11. "buzzsaw"... more like "buzzKill" !!! hahahahahahaha... kidding!
  12. It's not a real VLTOR stock. It's a airsoft version of it. You can tell by the fact that it's longer than a real club foot Mod-stock.
  13. I'm with Render. I prefer it without the silencer. Another nice touch would be installing a Noveske Flashhider on it with the front edge of the flashhider flush or slightly forwards of the RIS.
  14. Can you say what the cost of this one off was?
  15. Actually, for me, the "Davidson Custom" trademark makes it an even more valuable piece. This says to me: you're not buying any old generic 1911... You're buying a Custom 1911 made by Davidson himself.
  16. At first glance I thought that 2002 was a 2001.
  17. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing... lots of RS manufacturers start off with a rough casting and CNC finish a part.
  18. Is Davidson a US based GunSmith or is he based in Asia? Reason why I ask is... if he's US based, it'll be easier for those of us in the States to acquire... and it'd be really nice to hear that products of this caliber is possible from a non-asia based gun-smith. Either way... I'm sold. I love my TM 1911s and this is clearly something I *need* to have.
  19. I've ordered and received patches from CamoTech before. They're great quality but did take a long time. I've since had a second order that I put in about 2 months ago which I'm still waiting on. It is a shame that there aren't any other companies who are listed as being able to make custom patches in Multicam. Since then, I've ordered many Multicam and ACU patches from 1800NameTape.com . Those orders were lightning fast as they had the custom patches mailed within 3 days after my ordering them!!! I also ordered through them some Multicam and ACU Covers (these cover the huge patches
  20. FarEast, those great! I liked the sections of Multicam they used too. May I ask where you got them from?
  21. I'm not a big fan of the color of the moisture wicking material of the Gen. 2 Combat Shirt. It's just too contrasting against the multicam material. IMHO, I think it should be the same color as the spandex-y material in the pants. But I still prefer the OD green inthe Gen. 1 Combat Shirts.
  22. Look at the coyote brown fabric above the knees. Gen 2.
  23. I heard that there are stretchy parts like spandex in the garment that allows for a greater range of motion except that it can easily get caught on things and create a run in the spandex like in stockings.
