  1. The RIS is again incredibly sturdy so much in fact that we had to ask King Arms exactly how to remove it as we were worried about damaging the weapon if we forced it! To remove the RIS you first need to remove the four hex bolts. Then you will need to depress the silver, spring loaded locking pin. Once you have done that, slide the lower part of the RIS towards the flash hider. Now this is what caught us out, the RIS is very well made and will require some brute force, I found that attaching the vertical fore grip and using that for leverage, plus a screwdriver really helped. I also
  2. The TROY A3 CQC. Needless to say after being very impressed with the King Arms 7mm gear box, I was looking to be just as impressed with the externals, if not more so. Now as you are aware the King Arms TROY A3 CQC came as a kit, but I’m not going to give you a walkthrough on how to assemble it. King Arms supply a very in-depth guide on this and to be honest has done a far better job than I could. Now the first thing to point out is that the King Arms TROY A3 CQC compact is a complete package, meaning that it is a weapon designed for a certain role. In this case Close Quarter Co
  3. Now due to legal requirements for both the UK and Japan the King Arms TROY A3 CQC Compact was supplied with the King Arms M90 spring, although a 100M spring would have still obtained a power level within the law this weapon is designed for CQC/CQB engagements where targets can be as close as point blank. As it stands the M90 produces velocities around 90mps, 295fps or 0.8 Joules Which needless to say is perfectly fine for a CQC environment The spring guide is well made but again lacking in features often seen in other 3rd party products, again no thruster bearings to aid i
  4. The anti-reversal latch is also reinforced steel and is no different to other generic latches on the market, apart from the fact that this has been designed and tested to work with the gears. The tappet plate is again made from the reinforced nylon and for those of you not believing the amount of punishment these can take you should take a look here. The use of red is really adding to the feel of a custom finish. The switch assembly of the King Arms version 2 gear box also uses the same nylon; this assembly is a huge improvement on the generic versions found in Tokyo Maru
  5. The last thing to note on the external features viewable on the outside of the gear box is the way the two halves are connected. Rather than using a mix of Philip’s and Torx screws, King Arms has replaced them all with Hex bolts. This is a huge benefit to players just getting into the sport or doing field repairs on skirmish days as you no longer need 1 tool specific for one job. Instead you can rely upon a generic tool found pretty much in everyone’s tool box. Upon opening the gearbox you are greeted with a very impressive sight, and without a doubt this has to be one of the
  6. What You Get. After unpacking everything I was left with a very impressive arrangement of internal parts, external accessories and the main body of the weapon, all individually packed or wrapped. • TROY A3 upper and lower receiver • TROY RIS • VLTOR replica 6 position battery stock • Vertical fore grip • 300 rd high capacity magazine • 2x rail covers • Troy rear flip up battle sights • King Arms Custom 7mm reinforced gear box • Inner barrel and Hop chamber The Gear Box Now as this came as a kit I have to say I was happy that I didn’t need to strip dow
  7. King Arms TROY A3 CQC Compact Review Mark and the team at King Armswere kind enough to send us the new TROY A3 CQC Compact for review and I have to say that I’m extremely impressed with the package. Now before I start I would like to point out that this is, in fact the first King Arms complete weapon I have seen up close. Normally non Japanese products are sold as kits in Japan to get around the copyright laws held by Tokyo Marui on certain gear box features. The King Arms TROY A3 CQC was sent to us in kit form so players purchasing this product may find that theirs is f
  8. Give me a few hours and a much more indepth review covering all aspects will be posted. I had it finished yestersday but my laptop failed.
  9. Unless Systema is now making real fire arms no...He's using real steal mags on his Systema for show.
  10. Ok these are a slightly higher pitch than Marui standard gears, But recently I had to strip the gun down to service the parts and I noticed that I had built the gear box without using any gear grease, the gears had only been using the silicon so even though the gears are in perfect condition they did not receive the added bonus of suppressing the sound that the grease offers.
  11. Seraph is a member of the team I play for and all his parts on his HK416 are hand painted using a technique that is a closely guarded secret that he won't even share with the rest of the team. Its a very amazing processes and when placed next to Hydrographic film the differences are very hard to note. The two differences that are immediate though are that his loos like they have been used in the field and that it doesn't have the MULTICAM marks on it.....everything else is perfect. More Photos of the team can be found here: http://storm-soc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=18
  12. Ok just to give you all a head up. I'm in the process of writting a "how to" on modifying the hopunit to take generic hop nubs. I will be using the Madbull Shark accelerator nub for this how to and so far Im getting pretty amazing results. It will require you to drill part of the hop unit assembly and you will need to make specific custom parts. But the mod will give you the same results as standard AEG hop units.
  13. Thank you, I try very hard to write the most indepth reviews as to cover any potential question.
  14. Sorry no, Im going to drop them a line later today to see if there are any plans to make the UK receiver set for this.
  15. Fortunately, certain parties have started to read the threads about thier products. Also the same news is being reported by both wholesalers and exporters and it looks like the paint is the next thing on BE's hit list. I also agree on the bipod, the spring tention is way to slack on the clamp and required me to actualy coil the spring tighter to get anything near what I needed to skirmish with this bipod.
  16. Just got me a new RED Hifi helmet with Audex speaker system built in......no longer have to put up listening to the rubbish songs they play on the slopes here! Also finally have a place for all those stickers! Also got me a pair of Quicksilver boarding trousers....60% off in the sales and this years top of the range to boot!! Not shown here is my ticket and ski pass for next weekend in the Japanese Alps!!!!
  17. I will also be reviewing the AIMS, so you might want to wait.
  18. Both AK74's are ICS and the AK47s is a CYMA but fully rebuilt with metal and wood.
  19. In the 6 years I have been going to the show Western Arms, Marushin, Tanaka and Maruzen have never attended that also includes KSC and other Japanese manufacturers. erm....not really sure what you are going on about here!
  20. because certain FPS limits are graded for use by different age groups hand guns and AEP's are deemed suitable for younger players. Full sized AEG's are for 18 and older.... if you look at the standard Gas Blow Back Marui there is no 18yrs or older markings on them. which means the MEU might very well be a EBB
  21. It means, "Expect in the next 10 years, but don't hold your breath" No just kidding, it basically means for 10 year olds or over.
  22. Mate take it up with them! I just report on the shows and have no affiliation with anyone but Arnie's Airsoft. I got a buisness card off them and the apparent website is: www.tango-company.com but the link doesn't work for me. Now here is a little trade secret, Western Arms is actually Korean The owner is a Korean so they might be out in force at the Honk Kong show or the one in Korea very soon. Also I think there might be some patent issues between Tani Koba, Western Arms and another Hong Kong company all producing very very similar products. I menti
  23. Really? I don't recall that ....and I had one of the original PSG-1's and it didn't have that and my younger brother also had one of the later models also without the blow back. I just did a search and the 1st link mentioned the blow back, strange how two guns both purchased in Japan didn't have it!
