DarkLite
If they can boast unbreakable reliability then sure, otherwise nothing is worth $1000 in a go that couldn't be built by ones self over time <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can boast unbreakable reliability, and I certainly don't charge $1000USD. fanta101
bahh. why spend 1k on a gun that is pre-customized for you? it takes allthe frustration and "wondering-why-it-doesnt-work-when-everything-is-in-place" feelings out of it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> fixed

DarkLite
explain. and how much <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1) To overhaul a gearbox to make it as near as much indestructable as makes no difference is not that hard - the right combination of parts installed correctly will do it, but the problem is most people either install things incorrectly or use the wrong parts. I don't. 2) Depends. I did a MG36 conversion (25rps @ 400fps) for a client for only $60USD in labour charges. Note, the MG36 has done about 30K rounds at last count with no problems, other than the *suitcasey* STAR G36 cmag dieing.
QQexDERA
To echo Onslaught, the reason for the 1000 USD pricetag might have something to do with the 314 USD Real-deal Larue RIS on it.... When I think about it, 1000 USD being 500 quid, its easy to spend that kind of money when building a custom gun using real-deal parts from the ground up.
Stealthbomber
I think Snorkelmans point is the key issue. It's the fact that they're selling it on the basis that it's more than $1000 that is dumb. If they sold a range of guns containing features such as real-steel parts, super-tough gearboxes and custom fitted receivers then it'd be up to the customer to decide if the gun was worth >$1000 or not. Instead, by saying "Buy it cos it's $1000" they're trivialising the issue and assuming most airsofters have more money than sense.
DarkLite
Hey guys, I just finished a custom project. It's almost entirely identical to a GALAXY MP5k, but it's priced at $1000USD, so you'll obviously want to buy it! Yeah, I'm a biz whiz.
