Putting together my first set of camo...

Recommended Posts

I thought that I could piece together my own camo set, but after reading a few threads, it appears as though there's a lot of thought to be put into vests/pants/shirts to buy.

I have a CA G36C (also hoping to add a grenade launcher, don't know which would work for it) and two TM DE HK's.

I was also hoping to get multicam for it.

At first I was thinking any vest would go with it, but then I hear that it has to be able to fit everything I need, from mags to ammo to all kinds of other things. Fine, makes sense. But then I hear that pouch placement is also important, amongst other things, so I figure screw it, I'll ask the good gentlefolk at Arnies for their advice on the matter, and if I get good enough I can piece one together myself.

Right.

So basic criteria: Multicam (if possible), using a CA G36C (With potential grenade launcher) and two TM DE's. I know the holsters for the DE will probably be guarder tornado rigs or something similar.

Well...I get paid about 400 dollars a paycheck, taking out about 200 per check for random things (i.e. gas/food/misc), so I have about 400 dollars of disposable income a month.

However, this isn't going to be a one time-deal outfit. I planned on buying a few pieces per check, to disperse the total cost. As long as I have it done by the end of March, that is.

I was planning on getting a tan vest, but I also need to make sure it'll fit G36C mags at the very least, don't I?

I was probably going to get most of my stuff from www.ebaybanned.com, since they have some good things there. Let's see if I can maybe...quantize this list, or something.

Going with an MC theme.

Need:

Boots

Pants/shirt

Helmet

Pads

Vest

Safety glasses are taken care of.

Buy a MOLLE standard vest, without pouches. Buy g36c pouches in molle standard.

1) Boots-- Buy Belleville tan/or black combat boots. They are costly (150$), but they will serve you for years. The Tan ones, would fit nicely to MC.

2) Multicam of your choice. :)

3) I would suggest a MICH knockoff (cheap), or if you really want to, a original one (might cost you 200$)

4) Bijans or Alta (Altalocks). You can get Alta's cheap (24$) at entrygear.com and they are really good.

5) Vest - Maybe a Coyote Brown FLC MOLLE II if you want lightweight. By AITES or SDS (90$/55$). Or if you want a plate carrier, a knockoff CIRAS Marintime in CB? Pantac/Phantom makes good one. (200$, with pouches, but they might not take g36c mags), so I would suggest buying a "clean" vest, and finding pouches for it.

Woof, jeez lolz.

I was expecting the prices of the other things you mentioned, but I wasn't thinking I'd spend more than 50-60 dollars for boots xD.

I'll have to readjust.

Most of the stuff I've found on ebaybanned seems pretty good. Let me...see what you think of this.

Helmet:

http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.php?cPa...products_id=921

OR

http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.php?cPa...products_id=112

Shirt/Pants:

http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.php?cPa...products_id=927

(note: if this is purchased, then I can get that first MICH helmet I linked for 99 dollars, but it'd still be more expensive than the second helmet =_=)

Boots:

I'd have to look around for this myself. Would any actual shoe stores have it? 150 dollars is 3 times more than I expected x_x.

Pads:

http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.php?cPa...products_id=127

Glasses:

http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/25g66hs.html

(I'll have to see whether or not my site is full seal or not, but this is looking pretty nice, especially for the price.

Vest:

I'm still hesitant about the vest; this one I'll need the most help. Pouch wise, mainly. Where to put pouches, which I'll need...etc.

1)

You can buy cheaper boots, 50-100$. If you aren't into hardcore skirmishing, with doing distances like 20km a day, they will suffice.

But good boots are really much more comfortable. The difference between Bellevilles and other cheapshit, is huge. Bells feel like running shoes. They are running shoes with vibram outsole, goretex, and 8inch top. :)

If you're in a hot climate, I would suggest Belleville tan 390. They don't have goretex and insulation, and cost 112$ on the official homepage.

If it's a bit colder, I would suggest tan 795, goretex (waterproof) and 200g thininsulate insulation.

Check out ebay for lower prices maybe?

These boots do not require breaking in (at least mine didn't). I just put them on, and did a 25km march in the hills with a backpack. No sores, no aches, too beautiful to be true. :)

You pay for quality.

A cheap gun might break down.

A cheap vest might be a bit uncomfortable.

Cheap boots will make your feet bleed and sore. :)

2)

Pads:

These pads might constrict your movements. I never saw them, so I'm not sure.

I'm recommending Alta lock pads, at least I know they are good (and many people will confirm that also:).

3)

Vest:

You can buy any MOLLE type vest.

Or if you prefer lightweight, take a Chestrig, or ALICE set.

I would suggest a chest rig or FLC.

CIRAS and other plate carriers are a pain in the *albatross* during the summer (its hot, stuffy, and heavy). They do look cool though.

A RACK (chestrig) or FLC vest would be a good idea. I suggest getting the req. number of mag pouches, and a utility pouch.

What reaper meant, is that you can buy a special magwell for the G36, which will allow you to use standard m16 magazines.

80$ price for new 300s Bells.

Frankly, you can get them much cheaper than I can get them in Poland.:)

Something like this?

As for the boots, I suppose I'll have to suck it up then.

Let's see if I can update that list then...

Pads:

http://www.uscav.com/productinfo.aspx?prod...atsHot_1-_-8458

-These are the pads I think you spoke of?

Boots:

http://www.uspatriotstore.com/ProductInfo....?productid=8660

OR

http://www.altama.com/Tp1/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=5852

I'm not so sure about the Altama, I just looked it up because someone said the Bell's hurt their feet. It was the only negative review I saw, but I'm putting the Altamas down as an option anyways.

Sidenote: For 60 dollars...that's nice xD. Unfortunately, I'm a 10 1/2, but I'll keep the Bells in mind, definitely.

Vest:

I'll look into it still. The search narrows though, which is great.

Magwell: Yes it's something like this. It allows you to use m16 mags in a G36. Which makes life easier, because m16 mags are cheaper, and fit into standard m16 mag pouches, unlike the ribbed g36 ones.

The Bells probably hurt his feet because he had a too small size. :)

Of course they might not fit someone, nothing is ideal.

Most of my team uses Bellevilles and they really like them. I recommend you go Belleville. They wont tax your feet after a whole day of skirmishing.

I use 770, airforce typ, with thininsulate & goretex.

BTW, you can can Bellevilles in N (Normal) or W (Wide) widths.

Check out ebay for sizes and prices.

Altama are pasable, but not as good as Belleville.

Pads:

Yes those are the pads. Much better quality than some china knockoff pads. One of the few pads on the market, which don't slide off, and don't cut off blood transitions to your legs. :D

This is the vest I'm talking about:

http://www.entrygear.com/product.asp?id=4117

And this is a RACK:

Well...I don't know what other people would carry in those pouches, but all I can think of needing is spare gas, a water bottle, and lots of mag space/spare battery space.

If the lightweight vests will do it, then I'll go with it. I'll need to come up with a complete list re-update.

About the pouches though, Izabelin.

You mentioned that I would need to get the req. number of mag pouches/utility pouches. If you could elaborate?

I got that vest yesterday

it is a good vest

don't know how it performs in combat but it is very solid

some of teh MOLLE loops aren't evenly spaced out but it is not a problem

holds everything I carry with room to spare

the MICH helmet is WAY better than the second one although it is more expensive

I though you already had the G36?

but if you get the converter for M4 mags get these pouches:

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?...roducts_id=1151

they come in multicam but they are $25 on Airsoftgi

tan would probally look ok on a MC vest

other pouches you should think about are

a dump pouch(either MOLLE or a leg mounted one)

hydration carrier

and maybe even a utility pouch of some kind

i wouldn't get a GL yet, I would wait until you at least had some gear and mags

Lol, don't have it yet, but it's as good as mine. Not having money makes me research these things so much I might as well just already have it.

But yeah, I'm probably going to hold off on the GL for now. I just wanted it to make the gun bigger xD. There's a festival thing going on San Francisco that my friends and I attend yearly, and I planned on wearing it there. If everything turns out okay, then I can do this by that time.

Ah...

Well. Let's make things perfectly clear first off, that I am an inconceivably huge nerd. That being said.

It's the San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival. Semi-big three day festival event held late April celebrating Japanese culture, held in the heart of the Japantown shopping district. Lots of people cosplay and what have you for it.

I figure I can kill two birds with one stone and dress up -and- have a functional rig for airsofting.

As for the G36C...

I'm not sure yet ^^;. I didn't really want to use any of the M14/M15 series...just because...I don't know lol. I just didn't want to. I would get a SCAR if I could, but I just can't spend more than 300 dollars on a gun right now.

Link to post

G36C+GL= sucks.

Look for a full length G36, like the K or E versions. C without GL also looks good. :)

300$ for a gun gives you tons of options frankly. :)

M4/M16 family (but you don't want these)

G36 family

Mp5 family

AK47/74 family

M14!!!! :D

G3

and tons of others. :)

Req. number of pouches. I meant the required number of pouches, how many pouches you will need. If you have 4 mags, thats 2x2mag pouches, if 12 mags, it's 6 pouches etc.. :)

Link to post

Ah, yeah. Was thinking about that. Didn't make much sense after some thought =_=

I suppose I'll have to suck it up though. Now that I've opened my purchasing range, I was thinking of either getting the CA G36 or a tan SCAR. CA or VFC though, I have no idea.

The mags for that shouldn't be a problem...right? O_x. No magwell necessary, I mean.

Pouches: Aye, understood.

But everything else seems to be in order?

Link to post

VFC SCAR is a very good choice!.

Yes everything is in order, just the vest is going to be stuffy and hot in summer (nylon 600d).

I would take a SDS FLC MOLLE II or AITES FLC, they are made of much better material (but don't look so cool), price ~50$ for the SDS one.

You can also check out ebay for used ones, with pouches. But thats just my preference, it might not make your day. :)

Or if you wan't to have that SF/contractor look, you can use a E-LBV vest (used ones for 20$ I think:)), oraz some kind of chest rig.

Anyway don't end up spending too much. :) Most of us bought our gear and weapons through some timespan, so it wasn't that hard on the wallet. :)
