Paypal receiving limit

This might be off topic but since paypal is used for my sales and purchases of most thing airsoft i thought i'd put it here.

 

I received a payment yesterday evening which came through fine, however i had an email telling me this:

 

'In the past 12 months, you have received £650.00 GBP or more into your PayPal account.

 

This means you are on your way to approaching the £1,700.00 GBP annual receiving limit. This limit is put in place to allow us to comply with our applicable Anti-Money Laundering regulations.

 

If you do reach the annual receiving limit of £1,700.00 GBP you will no longer be able to withdraw or send money, fund transactions or close your account until you complete certain steps to lift your limit.

 

It is simple to complete the steps to lift your limit.'

 

It then tells me to follow a link below and complete the 'Steps to Remove Limitations'. However on following the link it just takes me to the resolution centre and no other links or 'steps' appear.

 

If anyone has had the same experience or can help me resolve this please let me know asap. Thanks in advance. cheers.

Once you reach the £1700 mark, they'll give you some stuff to do. You have to ring a number to confirm your telephone is legit, and give them bank details to set up a standing order. They then put two small amounts into your bank account (pence) and you have to tell them how much the amounts were to confirm those details. Once it's sorted, you can cancel the bank standing order. Did it myself a few years back. It's no biggy

 

I hope you didn't log in from the email though, because that could be a scam to get your password. Always log in on the official web page

Nope, didn't go through the email link .

 

So I should just ignore it till the 1700 or do i ring them up now? They did leave a number if i was unable to do it through the account. cheers.

As long as they haven't locked anything up, I'd leave it. If you only racked up £650 in 12 months, I can't see you reaching the limit anyway.

I went through the same thing last week, give the number a ring and sort it and update your details with paypal, it's a bit confusing but you will get there in the end

I guess it wouldn't hurt. Might stop it getting locked for a while later. Won't cost you anything, but you might gain 50p or so

I had this too, its something to with anti money laundering laws or something....just fill in all the ###### and eventually it goes away

I had to do the same thing a couple of months back. All I had to do was confirm a credit card by noting a nominal amount they paid in. It's no big deal.

kl. So best just to call the customer service number they gave me and take it from there? (since i can't seem to do it through my account). cheers for all the help guys.

Last time i did it there was a link next to your paypal balance that said 'view limits' iirc which should take you to the page where it'll give you options to lift the limits.

Sorted it. Turns out all the steps i needed to do i had done ages ago so it was just in review. Called customer services and they were pretty helpful. cheers for all the replies gents.

i had the same thing, i just ignored it. But like you said its easy enough to sort out

I went through this a few weeks ago - it's really easy to do, but nothing to worry about until they actually need it. You're not even 2/3rds of the way towards the limit yet. Why make life difficult? :-) (God I'm lazy sometimes!)
