HaVoC
Heh, always wanted to use the phrase 'to blow monkey-chunks' Anyway. Finally got some spare cash (my dad won a tenner on 'Lotto'...I hate that name...) and he decided to give half to me Hence I run off to iTunes and buy 6 songs by Morrissey, from his album 'You Are The Quarry'. If you haven't heard Morrissey, then go and listen to some stuff by him. I recommend: - How can anyone possibly know how I feel? - All the lazy dykes - I like you - The world is full of crashing bores - The first of the gang to die - Irish blood, English heart The last two there are especially good, and you can hear them all here. So...is he any good? Vote...NOW!
HaVoC
Who voted against him? "Oh no, he isn't an identikit just-add-water pop-star or a punk rock band, so he sucks!!!"
Duff Beer
I did! And no I don't listen to identi-kit bands, although Green Day does make me guilty of the punk rock. How about Deep Purple, Rainbow, Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chilli Peppers? Are they quality enough for you?
HaVoC
Rainbow - the forgotten band Difficult to Cure is a fave of mine! Care to justify your destruction of Morrissey?
Duff Beer
Hang on a mo, wasn't he in the Smiths when they did 'How Soon is Now'?
HaVoC
He was the singer in The Smiths. For great music, see also: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Duff Beer
Erm, *albartroth*. I love that song. Damn damn damn. Vote removed from poll. -1 to negative.
sp00n
Not my kind of music. And no, I dont listen to that kind of music.

IronWolf
The Smiths: Morrissey solo: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ditto.
BakaBox
Not gonna say anything about him solo, I have not heard enough... But The Smiths, they were rather cool.
Crazy_Harry
ok, purists love the smiths with the full line up, but honestly, morrissey's done some great stuff solo- not a huge fan of his new stuff, but then, thats just me- still enjoy the style, just think he's done better- heck out some of his early records to find out more!
Rikkster
I haven't heard anything Morrissey's done solo that comes close to How Soon Is Now, which is one of my High Fidelity-style Top Five.
Crazy_Harry
well quite, but thats a bit of a masterpiece which isn't going to be topped, its a bit unfair to compare! I think the best way to compare is say "morrisey on his own is a very different musician that morrissey in the smiths" you can compare and say one sounds beter, but when you're dealing with a band that was pure genius, its always going to be a tough act to follow! Rikkster
That's true enough Just of of interest, how many band performers can you think of that have gone on to solo careers that surpassed their previous success? I'm up to Robbie Williams and George Michael. Not a good start

HaVoC
Just out of interest, how is he a 'whining fat ponce'? Not having a go, just wondering. I'd say he's better than a stupid, IQ-of-10 just-add-water screaming pop/punk singer.
Phoenix
The first of the gang to die gets played on the radio here in atlanta
HaVoC
That's his best as far as I'm concerned, along with 'How Can Anyone Possibly Know How I Feel?' and 'Irish Blood, English Heart'.
