The Parcel Farce Charm Offensive

Did I say charming? Yeah, and I actually meant it as well, which may come as a surprise but I have come to the opinion of late that the old buggers at ParcelForce really aren't that bad - of all the horror stories I have heard I have never had any of the relevant problems myself, and to be honest I think a lot of it simply comes down to how you deal with them: I always get what I want by being polite and very pleasant, but obstinate enough to get what I want to happen, happen..   Last Thursd

Is there an echo in here, or was it that grenade?

I'm echoing Ghost_Rider's feelings about blanks here as I was subjected to a similar treat yesterday. (woohoo)   After a great skirmish, a mate playfully chucked a grenade at my feet, thinking - in my elated post-skirmish state - that he was chucking it over to check it out I stooped down to pick it up. Barely were my fingers within 12 inches from it and it went off, a 12-bore blank delicately traced my earlobes and soothingly ruptured my very eardrum, nervous system, brain and underwear, in

Living the dream.

A thought ocurred to me in Holland, and it was a good time for random trails of thought and inspired tangents in the line of thinking, but the thought that most stuck out was that I actually am going to acheive one of my dreams.   There is a saying, by someone cynical, that there are 2 problems with living your dreams; one is that you don't get to do it, and the other is that you do.   I will meditate on this when I've acheived this little one, and see what I think of this particular philo

So that little VCR Bill-thing doesn't matter then?

Big news of the day (well, year) is, of course, that we have an exception from the Violent Crime Reduction Bill - that is, subject to conditions as yet undisclosed we will retain the right to own our airsoft guns, protected by law, safe and secure. How pleased are we?   WOOHOOOOO!!!!     I'm leaving the debate to brew and boil regarding the details and the almost inevitable conditions that will be forced upon us, and I need to go out and celebrate my newfound freedoms alongside (and indee

Emo Vs Goth: who would win/cry first?

Clearly the Emo would cry first, goths are hard-as-nails; up until the point they lose their nail-varnish or you switch the light on.   Okay, so feel free to hate me, but I have every right to mock seeing as I used to be a "goth" (I was about 16) and although the term didn't exist at the time, I had decidedly "emo" tendencies every now and then (every week) within that whole sphere of `gothdom`.   Of course, a far simpler way to put it would be to say "I was 16 once".   Not that all 16

A Fist Full of Hollers

The satisfaction at watching your latest victim wince and recoil in pain, the exquisite pleasure as the hapless unfortunates line up with pride in their hearts, only to fall in agony before your merciless attacks, mmmmm….. There is a delicious satisfaction simply listening to the screams and hollers from those who have been blistered and stung by your own hand, their weltered faces and limping frames testament to your domination…..   Evilhippy hasn’t gone to the dark side – I got there year

Obsessive Compulsive Order(ing).

Jesus tapdancing Christ I spent a lot last week. Now not included within this is my new skirmish rifle: I have a new AEG in the STAR SL-8, and man, I love it. Its taken the pride of place that the AICS up until recently had occupied, although being totally differenty systems I can still find places in my battered, shadowy heart for them both   But as to the spendyness, well since Friday last I have purchased (all online):   MARPAT trousers, & shirt, & bandana Guarder pistol lanya

The Barman Everywhere is from Australia.

And things move on… there was an interesting fellow at the ceilidh on Saturday who was apparently a famous folk recording artist; not a wisp of beard in sight mind you, and he wasn’t even wearing sandals; nope, this chap was pretty cool in more ways than one; wearing his shorts and t-shirt to have a crafty roll-up outside the hall’s entrance in bloody February; and very down-to-Earth. He also just so happens to run a property maintenance company for letting agents around the Bristol area – which

Sample posting 1: Why woman are better dancers

From http://versive.blog.co.uk here is the first of two posts that I'm transplanting here just to keep in touch with all you guys   -   Yes I know, lots of posts today. I'm in the hotel all day (thank Norris for free WiFi, I can tell you) giving the new tattoo a chance to heal - I have photos of it coming up in a bit - those of you who know me and my tattoos; the ones I already have; will be surprised and I hope impressed and pleased with this new piece - and also to catch up on internet

Straight past your nose and turn left at the elbow

Bloody London cabbies, right? They are famed throughout the country (`nay, even the world!` according to the gushings of the olympic planning committee ) for their unrivalled knowledge of the cit streets.   Even apart from this, you would imagine that the coppers who are on guard duty at the bloody houses of freakin' parliament would know their way around the immediate area of the City, would you not?   Evidently not, as it happens, because we were sent in many directions other than the c

Hippiecrites

Went out to a `rave` (messy, debauched underground-style mashup, for those that don't quite know) at Londons swanky SE1 nightclub on Friday, totally on a whim and a late and random invitation; it turned out to be pretty much identical to a festival but indoors - under a railway bridge in Lambeth in fact - in a cavernous series of rooms in the dank and seedy underbelly of UK nightlife ( i.e. the best part).   Turns out it was run by and for ......   peace-lovers advocating hate ( ) busy ma

Lots of new photos, travel news and emo cr*p!

I must say I am impressed, heartened even, by flicking back here on the off-chance and seeing the lovely vote scores and page views have gone up even in my lengthy absence; you really are too kind.   Now, to the real business now I've kissed your arses a bit, if you want to see how things are going on, and read more of my twitterings, then again I am gonna plug my new blog at http://versive.blog.co.uk   This is nothing personal against the venerable Arnies, of course, I just need a site th

In the spirit of short posts...

Realising that no-one wants to trawl through an essay of my ranting - even those of you who secretly love me or something - I'm gonna try and put a few short posts in betwen the rants.   I can tell you all care so much   So; a thought from my desk, and a totally shameless plug   I just completed the content update for our most important page on the website. So there The site is here, my lovely company (not actually mine yet. Yet....)   Its been a bit of a mission, and taken about

Wet weekend.

Holy be-Jesus it was possibly the worst possible idea on paper: spend a weekend at a morris-dancing festival with a party comprising 4 couples and then muggins here all on his lonesome, on a soaking wet weekend in the middle of an incredibly expensive period when I really shouldn't have spent £160 in 2 days on beer and burgers.   Yet that is what I did, and it was rather a lot of fun actually.   Apart from having to shame-facedly return to the pub the morning after the night before, where I

Tanaka Redeemed - M700 A.I.C.S. FTW dudes...

Good things come to those who wait, and I've waited long enough. I figured a good thing or two was on the cards and my prayers have been answered (thanks, Satan) and the M700 AICS was finally re-released by Tanaka. Thank *fruitcage*. Now I don't have to buy an APS2 Type96 bloody spring rifle and throw another £250 at it just to make it almost as good as this   Incidentally, I'm actually writing most of this up from an internet cafe for which I am paying by the hour just to bring you the wonde

Hitman Movie Will Rock..?

A good very friend of mine sent me this email this morning, I reckon he's got the nail right on the head -       "Not only has the HITMAN film been approved, it no longer has Vin Diesel!   http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/05/deadwood...n-hitman-movie/   I will be happy if:   1) They don't just base it around the 'hit gone wrong, mole in the agency, all other hitmen been found and killed by over zealous (and of course in fact a 'bad guy' cop) and Agent 47 brings them all down` formul

ARSSES. What an appropriate moniker.

Intolerant squaddies with IQs below 100? perhaps.   Heres's my thought for them. Lets see if they can actually discuss it, or will they just dismiss it without addressing any of my points? I think we all know whats gonna happen   Wonder why no-one wants to join the ranks of sub-par intelligence disrespectful thug squaddies anymore     http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums/viewto...start=2190.html     And I said; "Ahhh yes, hello!! I'm so happeee! Oh so happeee! *murders bunny*

On the plus side: I now have a Classic Army M249. Also on the plus side I got Dog Soldiers last night and watched that again, rather a good film and I always do like Sean Pertwee's sarcastic and amusingly vulgar roles.   On the down side, I broke my 3-day abstainance from booze to celebrate the arrival of the Minimi, and ended up with a head full of swirly C2H6OH brain-stabbing vengeance upon waking this morning.   Hangovers do not a happy worker bunny make; send in the poachers and take t

War on Freedom

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2005/08/323417.shtml Boy am I glad I don't party over there...   As it happens this is common in all heavily populated areas, and the degree of police terror and force grows exponentially as the size of the population base increases. Why terror tactics and highly unnecessary force like this is used on private property at legal gatherings in the middle of a garden state like Utah may be explained by the entries below, commenting on the various alledged factors.

Abstinence in the face of Absurdity.

I've been getting out of airsoft for about 4 months now. Strange as this may seem, but I do actively try and spend as little time thinking about it as I conceivably can, although at the moment this is by definition a process I find counterintuitive because I use the interest and the buzz (you all know what I mean ) of buying and planning new gear, and adding or creating whole collections, to escape from the unwarranted stress and unnecessary overesponsibilities of work when we are busy (which i

The Lowdown: Marushin's Folly?

I typed about half of this as a reply in a PM to questions about the different available Marushin Derringers, but it seemed useful enough for everyone so here it is (adjusted and blogified to be more betterer, like )   I would have got back to the guy yesterday; I had the reply typed out, twice in fact, then had a power failure both times before I finished - damned parents using their dodgy old chainsaw and hedgetrimmer at the same time. Silly, silly 'rents... Right -   The difference b

One week on...

...and I've barely recovered had the messiest night in years at one of the best clubs in the world as far as I'm concerned, only marred by the sonofab*tch who stole my wallet at about 6am, but hey. What can you do?   Apparently, hammering roller shutters with feets elbows and fists, is, while on a perfectly valid list of possibles, not one the police are keen to endorse. I didn't get arrested but I was told to stop - it was a damn good thing I had enough sense left in me to not go off the han

Swearing. Big and clever: official!

I'm putting this under `alcoholism` because I've had a few ..... You might be able to tell   The point I am (digressively) trying to make is; swearing is big, and it is clever. Go on, try it; swear a bit. Doesn't it make you feel mature, in some strange, esoteric way? 'Course it does. You wouldn't know those words if you were only 4 years old now, would you? That is the very definition of esoteric, and the very reason that swearing is both prized and feared by our youth.   Precisely.

Blind Faith

I’m wasn’t sure how sure I should be of this, but in the spirit of brotherly sharing, goodwill, trust and general niceness I’ve lent a few guns out to some newbie skirmishers. But I’m not going myself…..?   I guess this happens when you take people along and they get bitten by the Bug, now they wanna go practically every day and of course they don’t have their own guns yet. I could see it coming, really, and I guess this is just the bit where I undergo a little test of my faith in these guys;

Oh, memory lane... (and a cautionary tale)

Thanks to Hardcore Mitsuko's blog entry on talent I am reminded of a similar feeling, and a little story all of my own to tell; Settle down kids, and gather round the fire with uncle Evil ....   "'Twas a dark and stormy night, and..." Bullsh*t alert, no, that's not right. Nope it's not that melodramatic, but it is quite sad (I think so anyway) - I used to draw all the time, I was well known for it; in the social circles I moved in when I was 16 to 20 or thereabouts (and there were quite a f
