  1. We've got a thread running about it here: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/202617-server-error-after-8pm-pacific-standard-time/page__pid__2531126__st__20#entry2531126
  2. That is one option we could look at, although we'd have to be fair about how it was implimented.
  3. Just running checks on the database, this might slow things for a few minutes.
  4. I have restarted the services and I'm now about to run a database check routine to checks for errors in the tables. The new forum software has been launched (not installed yet) which will allow me to archive older posts. I'm hoping this new feature will allow us to filter off the older stuff but still leave it accessible to everyone and hence reduce the overheads of a very old forum
  5. We've identified a possible problem with the entire rack we are on. A ticket has been raised and it's being looked at by some trusted techs. Ill add more when I know more.
  6. Something has started to overload the backup cycle and some other areas of the server database. I will see how the ticket is going and if needed do the fix myself. I and working all night for the next couple of days and then dedicate my time to facing it over the weekend as this can't continue.
  7. It is the backup routine - the times match, I have mentioned it to have it looked in to, as it really shouldn't be hogging the server like that.
  8. Thanks for keeping me updated guys. I need to know how things affect you and any updates so I can keep an eye on things. I think I am going to investigate a better way to run our backups which may help. If you guys can keep me updated with times and dates of any issues I can compare it to server logs and stuff I know is happening in the background.
  9. I would have to double check but we do run a backup on the forums daily. This is set to run off peak, and at present there's no real way to do it without slowing the server down. I am pretty certain it's that effect you're describing. Has this been a recent phenomenon for you or one that's been there for ages?
  10. True however if people could see and not post there is the issue of people sending other PMs and trying to trade off topic.
  11. There's always ways to generate *chaffinch* chat. I appreciate the feedback, I need to know people's feelings and thoughts. The "less than 100" style rule is just the best way I can think of running things for the moment.
  12. I can't remember off the top of my head what I set the edit time to, but it should be a reasonable limit. I can extend it or change it slightly if that suits. As crackisbadmentioned it's there for a reason to prevent abuse. What we suggest is that if anyone has an issue with a post or what's an addition/change they use the report button and tell us. We can then check the thread, make sure there's no abuse going on and change the post/topic if needed. We can also add an "edit by" line that shows how and why it was done as this is a feature of the software. Ignore the above bold/italics I wa
  13. I have just updated the latest version of FF 9.0.1 here to test and I can't see what you're referring to. the PM screen looks okay here. Can you post the link to the page you're using and a screenshot of the issue?
  14. The current issue is that the digests are emails that are meant to be sent out and they get backlogged as there are some many to send. This results in delayed digests going out. (hence why it's fixed there's a huge spurt of emails). They've upped the limit for me which should fix things in the short term. The overall issue will be addressed in a future release of the forum software.
  15. They had to up the number of emails going out again. This is an issue for them with the code and boards as large as ours. They are going to approach how things are programmed differently in a new release. I rather hope it'll be fixed in 3.3. I am going to see if there's a way to highlight obviously dormant accounts and disable their notifications to save on resources. It'll reduce a heap of emails that go out.
  16. Can someone post a copy of their late or out of date digest email here and the date they received it? I can then forward on to Invision who want to see how it's happening.
  17. Seems there's still a backlog. I'll see if I can get the number sent out upped.
  18. Okay I've had a chance to play with this a bit more in depth now. The "members since last visit" flag appearing only on the "new content" link in a member related area would seem to make sense to me. Is the issue you have over the flags being slected on the left side? As far as I can see those flags need to be slected (well at least one or the other), and given that the view new content link inside the members application should be design take you to that page it all appears to be working as it should I agree that it's a strange link as I have no need to see the new content relating to mem
  19. Nope no idea, I am on FF and the same issue is there for me also. Unsure as to why we don't get the red underlines any more. May be a FF/plugin issue rather than us as we've not updated the forum software that recently.
  20. "unexpected feature"? Nah jsut saying how I think it is, the forum software runs into many pages of code and I didn't write it I believe the reason you are getting what you are seeing is that the "private messages" panel is part of the member panel. When you click content it'll take you to new content for members. If you check the link for PMs you'll see it's part of the members app > http:// www. arniesairsoft. co.uk/ forums/ index.php?app=members& module=messaging I agree it's a bit daft and will highlight it as a possible bug fix.
  21. I believe this is expected behaviour given the context of the button location.
  22. At a guess this is happening when you click on the link from the members page.
  23. I can expand our profile search to past a year, it's just locked down to that manually at the moment to reduce server load. Want me to increase it to two years or are you looking for longer? I'm looking to see if we can expand the adv search feature of the forums to include the ability to search by topic author.
  24. Digests should all be up to date now. Has anyone experienced any other issues? If you're getting digests for things you've not subscribed to I need to know specifics to fix it. The problem was the amount of digests we had going out for users. It has been increased so this should now be fixed.
