  1. haha FriendlyFire, wasn't picking on you this time. rbarnes182, internals are decent. It probably could be reshimmed for a slightly higher ROF, but I never bothered with it. I haven't opened the gearbox yet...as nothing broke yet. I think I bought this gun package for about $78 or so.
  2. My cheap, stock CYMA AK I painted to make a bit better visually. Still works well...and I am thoroughly surprised, haha.
  3. Stock CYMA CM.028 AK47 that I painted to make it look a bit better.
  4. Haha, thanks guys. Didn't think feedback would be this great. As for how I made the wash, I took some dark brown acrylic paint and diluted it a little with water. I then dipped my brush into the solution, then swabbed it over the areas of the gun. I then wiped off the excess with a paper towel, and then repeated a few times, allowing it to dry each time. Although it doesn't make the gun look much different on whole, it adds a bit of detail that's still noticeable. More pictures in different lighting to show the wash effect. Forgot to add pics of th
  5. VERY NICE Lordsex! Almost looks like shots taken from a SEAL documentary on the Discovery channel!
  6. Not quite, the wash that was applied is quite then, and it's on there very very well. It's not going anywhere for a while, lol.
  7. Light and simple optimized for mobility.
  8. Alright, I decided to put some more work into my AK47. I was generally happy at the mild wear, but I then realized it was missing a key component: Rust. This was achieved by making brown wash and applying it through out the gun. The key was not to over do it and put it in places where it would most likely occur in crevices, etc. I'm fairly surprised at how well it turned out...as I've never done anything like this before. To those who aren't familiar with my AK, it's a stock CYMA CM028 with the plastic body, etc.
  9. "Contains 13% Pig Fat." ROFL. Thanks though Chris. I didn't do any magic to achieve the worn look. If you have any other questions, just PM me.
  10. That's one large visible laser unit. Is it green laser?
  11. Haha, speaking of which, I'm reminded of reading somewhere that someone referred his M16 "not as an assault rifle, but Jihadi paradise-attainment facilitator." Thanks chris. I started with Krylon Khaki, then I dusted Krylon Saddle Brown over it. It was the closest thing to medium brown I could find. After that, I made a brown wash solution and applied it on there, then a black/dark gray solution and repeated. Edit: I'm trying to get some new pictures up soon in better lighting of the complete gun.
  12. A slight update. After seeing some pictures of a few 7th SFG carbines...I decided to 'up' the wear. Before: After: It's a bit much, but it's looking the part. Wear usually comes from paint chipping off, solvents (such as gun oil) rubbing off paint as well, and a few scratches. The challenge was to make the wear look as if it came from the elements I just described.
  13. Thanks, lol. I sprayed the gun (sans the 'wood' parts) dark gray. I then used a combination of light gray and silver to drybrush the plastic parts for the worn look. The key is to make the wear look even. Haha...right..... Actually, when it comes to 'wearing' things down, a lot of it is procedural.
  14. Nice work. Man, those reference cards are the new hot trend aren't they? DWells55, don't worry what the others say. But I'll give you a few pointer to save you the headaches later on. When sanding the metal parts, don't use the really coarse sandpapers. Most wear you see on actual AKs are pretty even and uniform, rather than looking like they've been attacked by sandpaper and files. As for the lower receiver, you could take it up another level by painting it dark grey, then drybrushing it with silver or light grey (or a combo of both). Good luck.
  15. 2x. Haven't seen that very often yet in the forums. The magazine looks a bit overdone, but the gun's great.
  16. Inspired by Medic23's CQBR's stock.
  17. Awesome gun. Are you going to use a PEQ or battery bag for power source storage?
  18. New thread...so some different pictures of the same gun that I never posted here on the forums.
  19. Thanks, feel free to use them as a reference. Haha, some would argue otherwise. It's probably the best "worn" painted gun look I've done to date though...but not much in terms of a 'pattern' like my previous works. Thanks for the comments everyone else. Also finished the M203 right when the thread was locked and then reopened.
