  1. Really good teardown guide here: http://kwausa.com/forums/index.php?s=0d4996a0f0976283b7261a2f450b1b6d&showtopic=8778
  2. The SF can has a nub that interfaces with the groove on the bottom of the 556K brake and that keeps the can indexed correctly. Once slotted on, the can's rear locking collar/ring rotates and pushes 4 bearings into the can's inner cavity. When mounted on the 556K, those bearings in the SF can are supposed to lock into the holes on the 556K.
  3. No. I don't believe Madbull ever made those in CW thread. It's possible that they sold the flashhider in CW separately. I don't recall. Regarding the SF556K + SF can, I tried to see how my DYTac 556K would do with the SF can. It appears that the DYTac 556K's bottom groove isn't long enough to allow the SF can to slide all the way on. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm guessing I'll have to lengthen that groove.
  4. They're available at Evike as well: http://www.evike.com/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=Surefire+Mock+Suppressor&x=0&y=0
  5. That SF 556K mod deserves a tutorial. Just sayin'.
  6. Rail covers were originally created to protect the picatinny rails from getting damaged. The fact that rail covers are now integrated to enhance weapon grip and manipulation (and protect the user's hands from hard edges) was something that came later. Many want to protect the top rails as that is generally where the most important accessories go (optics, iron sights, lasers, etc).
  7. Yes. Eventually. Edit: For parts, you're going to have to go through their contact page I'm afraid.
  8. Some people like EBB, and some don't. There isn't a single EBB system on the market today that feels remotely realistic. TM SOPMOD for example has the recoil impulse going in the completely wrong direction. I'd rather disable it and have the other features in the SOPMOD system rather than have a unrealistic recoil impulse. Most people who like the recoil have no clue what a real gun is supposed to feel like, so for them, it's fun. But realistic, it is not. In comparison, while GBBR's have weak recoil, the impulse direction is realistic. An EBB system as well as a few other features were consid
  9. The charging handle is movable and spring loaded. But serve no function on this AEG.
  10. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the context of the PDR though. The PDR's ejection port is always open. On the conceptualized design the shell casings pour out the internal ejection port and then moves forwards and out through the side ports (similar to the FN F2000). On "most AEGs" the charging handle opens the ejection port to gain access to the hopup adjustment. That wouldn't work on the PDR since the hopup chamber is rearwards into the gun which is why you simply remove the back cover to adjust the hopup and then replace the back cover. It's actually easier to adjust the hopup on
  11. Being an AEG, what did you want these two features to do?
  12. At least the Stark Arms trademark is only on the frame. The first sample I saw had some ghastly laser engraved trades on the slide.
  13. Yup. It's a Madbull one. He likes it because he has the exact same (but real) suppressor back home in Florida.
  14. Wut. They actually listened to me? So can you confirm that the rear sight doesn't need to be installed in order for the gun to function? My concern would be that any RS sight would still have to be tapped and screwed into (which isn't the end of the world, just sayin').
  15. Talking to their reps last year, they completely redid their process after the G18C series they previously made. I was never impressed by the Stark G18's, and I was very skeptical when I heard they were going to do the G17 and G19, especially after the fiasco that is/was their M4 GBBR and MP5 GBB series. That said, when I saw their Stark/VFC G17 samples, it was pretty obvious they learned a lot from their previous endeavors. The guns I tested shot straighter and more accurately than the TM's I have (and obviously blew away my KSC and WE G17's). And the overall quality of the guns were better.
  16. That's why I prefer Fireclean. Doesn't get gummy and doesn't require heat to keep it from getting gummy.
  17. For me it's 50/50. I take a lot of courses that are geared towards LE, MIL and civvie home defense. I take those from the standpoint of further educating myself but also for personal enjoyment, how it applies night shoot competitions and also for airsoft. To run a DBAL you definitely need your optic mounted high though (like an LT660) and even then it's still in your lower 1/6th of the optic window. It's never been an issue for me and my sight picture and that includes shooting out to 600 yards in day light with the DBAL or PEQ on the top of the gun. ETA ... To answer a few questions: * G
  18. DYTac produce their own exteriors (receivers, rails, barrels, flashhiders etc). I don't know about the interior. I think they have a separate OEM for the gearbox and associated parts, or they might be buying in bulk from another manufacturer. I don't know. The Magpul stuff is all genuine parts. That adds a certain dollar value. And the water transfer coating with authentic Crye Precision film adds more (as does the coating labor). A better way to analyze the base cost of the gun would be to look at their all black, non-magpul accessorized gun: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/dytac-combat-series
  19. I received my sample Combat Series URX III Deluxe AEG in Multicam from DYTac. I haven't had a chance to test fire it yet, but so far the finish isn't horrible. Here I'm trying it out with various accessories: I've shot Chris' real gun that this is based on (I think that was over a year ago now). This looks very close.

    DYTac MC AEG

From the album: uscmCorps - Guns

Sample AEG from DYTac with Multicam finish Non-multicam accessories are not included.
  21. Is that the one I recut? This looks ballin'. Have you tried mounting the T-1 with the mount facing the other direction? I've seen a couple SF guys do it. Looked pretty cool.
  22. I've had a couple people ask me about what colors best match the LaRue AR15 black. I recently got my full color samples from Cerakote, so I took a quick pic of the armor black and graphite black colors next to my LaRue Predator from a couple angles. For reference only. The Graphite Black matches better in color temperature, tone, and sheen: (I've removed my serial numbers).
  23. How thick is the lexan?
  24. That is brilliant.
