  1. Rifle collection so far: AKM stock is not 100% complete yet, and there should be a small space between the stock and reciever for Russian AKs.
  2. Not much, but soon I'll have more. Suddenly I have a want for a high quality metal 1911 with wood grips. I think I'll get the PGC kit for my WA 1911 military with the Guarder chamber and barrel. This, a 226, and AK real steel mag conversions should be nice projects until VFC releases more AKs.
  3. Thanks for the picture of that, I'll probably be buying one soon. Probably going to use the PGC no rail kit and Guarder steel barrel.
  4. Thanks. I really want to do that, but it's a bit difficult getting my hands on real steel magazine shells since I'm in California.
  5. Correct. To me, the quality on both are very good. However, I think the VFC is more realistic, and a better value. The gun appears to go together like the real thing. The pin in the front trunnion actually holds the barrel, and the sights are also held on the barrel with pins. On the other hand, the Guarder uses screws; easier to remove, but less realistic. The selector switch positions are also more realistic than the Guarder and can partially field strip. Also, for $475, you get a complete gun. The Guarder I think I paid around $600 for the kit by itself and then I modified it with
  6. I like those bulges you made for the receiver. Soon, I hope to make an RPK too.
  7. So far, all I've done is planning. What I plan to do is get all the parts necessary from a parts kit, then find a hydraulic press to remove all the stuff off the barrel. From what I see, if I wish to use the real gas block, I will need to use the real gas tube. That should take care of the upper handguard. The lower, I'm thinking about cutting a groove into the top of the TM barrel so the real steel retainer can lock into it. Onechance: No, you don't. Some places like combatdepot sell Guarder grips, and King Arms packages them with some of their stocksets. I also finally
  8. I'm trying to make my own, but no time to do it. So far, the hardest part to do seems to be the grenade sight/gas block.
  9. Trying to restart my pistol collection, getting rid of the old stuff, and getting new.
  10. I was disappointed too as I've been nothing but impressed with other Tanaka products I've owned before. The finish is not smooth in all places, and the slide lock won't engage when the magazine is empty as the follower is too short. Oh well, guess it's still a nice collection piece and I can use the magazine in my 1935.
  11. Tanaka Browning MK3, just got it, fired 6 times, and took photo. Top gun is MK3, bottom is 1935, I also have a PFC, but that doesn't really work here.
  12. www.k-var.com Assuming you use a TM or TM clone. Yes, a lot of modification needed to make the parts fit. Handguards, take out wood to make it fit in the retainers. Stock is a different story. You may need to modify the body too to get the wood to fit. Others I'm not sure as I only have done work with Guarder AK.
  13. Not yet, nor is there an easy way to attach the real steel stock without a lot of modification.
  14. I need a better camera and stronger flash, but here's what I have today. Also, I've decided to put the AKM project on hold until I figure a better way to get the stock to stay on so that one is not in the pictures.
  15. All of my AK together in my closet rack.
  16. Don't know what I was thinking yesterday night, but some putty will fix this thing no problem. I still need to refinish the stock.
  17. I think because it has trademarks on it.
  18. My AKM. I have decided to stop this project as going any further will not allow me to use my secondary plan, which is to put this stock on a GG RK103. When I started this project, I forgot that the pin (one near the part where the tang goes) in the Romanian stock is higher than the one in the Russian stock. I decided to continue, and cut off the Guarder reinforcement protrusion under the tang. What I didn't know was that part was critical to the stability of the stock, and now my stock can move up and down freely, even with the upper tang and screw secured. For this gun, now it cannot acc
  19. It's a Yugoslav AK grenade launcher. I'm still collecting parts for the M70 rifle it's going to be going on, so I just put it on here for fun.
  20. Just a temporary configuration until I build what the front end is supposed to go on.
  21. Actually it's just not finished yet. I still need to get a muzzle, flash hider and a tactical light for it. The safety cap just protects the protruding inner barrel.
  22. Thanks, the rifle in the middle is a Marushin M1 carbine. I love the older weapons like AK and others from the 50's to the late 80's. If I could only get my hands on an FAL airsoft. After the AKM, I will try to make a Zastava M70 and I'm already collecting parts for it. A note for any other Guarder Type 56 owners. If you want to convert your stock to a real steel one, be prepared to make the slot for the top tang bigger. I finished most of the modifications, but decided not to continue due to having to refinish the stock. Maybe another day when I have more time.
  23. Whole family, even incomplete projects besides M40A1. Project on the ground is AKM. Tomorrow, I will attempt to install the stock, shouldn't be too big of a difficulty.
