  1. You just haven't fixed enough of them yet. Pretty much every WE AK that has come in to the shops had a spring guide problem, particularly the AKS74UN. There are two issues; the area where the steel plate screw and the latch breaking which results in the spring guide not staying in position, and the spring guide is not in alignment, which prevents the gun from cycling. Please refer to the posts earlier on this thread which others have mentioned these issues. These issues are well documented right here in this thread. As for the gas discharge, a well designed rifle should
  2. Spring guide: Having seen mine, and other skirmishers spring guides destroy themselves I will leave you with my comment. replace with a Steel RAtech and not only will it cycle better it will not break. Gas discharge: No its not due to any of those issues. It is due to the exposed magazine gas release valve hitting the trigger box just before the firing pin, during the insertion process I have cut a channel out to allow the gas nozzle to be inserted without getting in the way. Simple fix. Obviously you have not had enough experience with this platform.
  3. Here is my GHK AUG now after 1 day of receiving it. I chopped the barrel from 20" to 16", but I chopped the inner down only by 3" so I try to retain the FPS. This is the VSR mod on the GHK: Previously it was 390fps on 0.25g at 18*C, Now it is at 410fps at 16*C Also sorted the right hook issue, turns out to be a burr in the hop lever, I filed it away and the problem disappeared.

  6. The Early Steyr AUG has the rectangular charging handle with the forward assist. The modern USR has the curved cocking handle. However, in my experience, no one really uses the forward assist, except to load a round in silence. The hop up is causing the BBs to hook right consistently, so a VSR hop is required. In saying that the GHK hop isn't bad. The BBs reach 60m easy with 0.25gs, just that hook which is annoying. The BBs actually travel out to 75m.
  7. I bought one. Just a Quick review. - Crude finish compared with the RS, with jagged seam lines. GHK is nylon fibre while RS is not, but in all fairness the GHK body is rigid and firm. - Cross hair is the Austrian Donut, different from the F88s I am used to with cross hairs. - Lightweight, slightly lighter than the RS, due to barrel being aluminium. - Magazine construction is good. Much better than the older GHK M4 mags, and quality is on par with most modern GBB mags - Accuracy at 20m is acceptable, coke can sized targets are short work (but I can do that with a WE Glock also).
  8. Bought one also, for momento than actual skirmish as my skirmish days are pretty much over. Will test it thoroughly and see the issues around the barrel out to 200ft, then VSR mod and chop it down to 14" maybe.
  9. GHK hammer can't support full bolt travel because it gets caught by the bolt carrier, when the bolt carrier travels back near the rear. In terms of which is better, WE: + Weight closer to RS + Great kick + Better power + Better accuracy + Better consistency of shot + Can mod pretty much everything including blowback unit - Poor gas efficiency (magazine dependent). - Trigger box breakages - Trigger set breakage must be replaced - Recoil spring guide must be replaced - The trigger box design discharges gas when inserting/removing magazine (can be modified) GHK: + Bett
  10. I have had a crack trigger box from the original hammer set.
  11. LOL, spray paint? There are some quite durable paints out there. In our armoury there are the F88 and the Steyr AUG, with the F88 having a green stock and the Steyr having the dull green/grey. I prefer the Steyrs as they are smoother cycling than the Austeyr.
  12. I have both sets, installed 3-4 years ago. Both the RA tech disconnector and the hephaetus disconnector had issues. Hephaetus disconnector wouldn't fit the hephaetus hammer, while the RA tech disconnector would jam up with the hammer when the bolt travel backwards and the trigger was pulled fully, as angle of the disconnector cut was incorrect. If the trigger was lightly pulled the hammer would slip past the disconnector and work, but if the trigger was pulled fully the hammer would hit the disconnector and fail to work. Of course the other thing is the Hephaetus hammer finishing is
  13. The cracking is most likely due too the weld hardening too fast, which leads to brittleness of the joint, and shrinkage that increases likelyhood of cracking. A new hammer just needs to be heated it up with a propane torch just before it gets red hot, and re-temper in oil. Wondering if its possible to convert the WE AKS74U into a BIZON?
  14. How did you get the flat KWC gas route bucking to fit the circular blow back nozzle on the WE?
  15. I bet. Though .45cal mags and bits of steel shouldn't be too hard to come by in Filies. Be keen to see one in .45cal.
  16. Its cool. inconspicuous and looks like a post apocalypse contraption, or a play-pretend wooden gun kids built for the tree house If only it did feed 45 ACP.
  17. Well, you can short stroke the gears, thats how I sorted the trigger lag. To be honest I have a SHS hi speed on it, the trigger lag is negligible, considering by the time I pull the trigger the motor has pulled the piston back and has fired. Not that far away from my GBBRs. It does depend if you want that hair trigger feeling, which is not really that realistic anyways.
  18. Depends on what it has in there. My S&T Sterling came with a v-hop that looks like a madbull shark X hop up without the accuracy issues of the shark-X. It outranges and more consistent than my G3 and L1A1 with first factory flat hop nubs. However the S&T TAR21 hops were atrociously bad. First test the stock system and ensure the whole piston/cylinder/nozzle system and the barrel/hopup is degreased. You might not need any accuracy mods.
  19. 1. The cocking handle wears because the indentation that allowsit to lock in place isn't shaped correctly and wear out. You need to get a dremel and make the area sharper. A common problem on the SMG 8 and MP7 2. The safety issue happens, no solution for that. Mine is the same.
  20. On the real deal, there is a button that is built onto the A1/A2 cocking handles, whereby if you push hard forward onto the button/cocking handle it will act as a forward assist. On the A3 and the GHK there is no button on the cocking handle hence no real forward assist. TBH I have never used the forward assist on the Steyr AUG. Most stoppages are stovepipes.
  21. Capt Calvin: I had similar issues on my AR15 SBR where recoil spring couldn't strip rounds from the mag. However upon inspection the reason is nothing to do with the spring tension, it is that the recessed rim of the 556 is being caught on the folds on the mag lip, with some magazines having more of this issue than the other. Magpul mags have no issues as it is not stamped aluminium, while colt mags have mild catching issues, and the worst is the Brownell mags. Check this issue first, mix with a grinding bit on a dremel, and if that is not the issue, then replace the recoil springs.
  22. Yes perhaps my sample is a bit skewed. I teach techs. I have many techs who provide me feedback on whats not and whats hot as they see a lot of issues at the stores, and the present to me the cases they cannot fix. To keep myself updated I also buy guns and test/thrash them. It does mean I see a lot of problem cases, but I never really hear of ones without any issues.
  23. Does the BE version have a reinforced mechbox and steel gears? The Marui mech was very fragile, and the gears were swiss cheese.
  24. Depends on your definition of disappointment. First GHK AK (one that had a AEG style hop unit) was so bad it wasn't worth the effort to fix. I would say that would be a major disappointment GHK Aks currently are nice only after some steel bits, and a VSR hop. My gripe is that it is too lightweight for my liking, being 1kg lighter than the real steel, a minor disappointment. G5s are great, again requiring a VSR hop, again, lightweight but since it doesn't exist the gun had no expectations. M4 are ok weight wise, but not at all durable. their "steel" is sintered and wears in
  25. Whats the total weight? Power wise its good as it means it will be useable in bush. And it looks to be a one piece barrel, that is fantastic!
