Burke
I just acquired a HFC M9 mag ina tarde, now I dont actually own a gbb yet but it was such a good deal i couldnt refuse since im getting an M9 for mah birhtday anywho. Anway when I got it there soemthin rattling inside the mag, sounds like a fairly large sized chunk of metal. Im assuming this is not normal. I asked the seller and he said it started doing it to him but it fed fine and didnt leak so he wasnt worried about. Did i get screwed? can i fix it? Whats up with it? Chris North
Stupid question: does it rattle with bbs or without? Sometimes double stack mags can have a rattle to them because there are bbs at the top. But I'm pretty sure it's not what you're saying. I Can't think of anything that would rattle, especially if everything works. You could take the mag apart to check, though.
Burke
when its empty. Umm is there a guide to do that? Or any ideas of what to take aprt and what not to? like i said ive never owned a ggb so i ahve no idea what not to touch.
pokethepope
http://www.depot53support.com/pdf/M190%20HFC.pdf Page 11 should show you how to take the mag apart, unscrew the screw at the bottom. Make sure there is no gas in the mag before you take it apart BTW.
Lance Jackass
One of my old m190 mags used to do this - no idea why. To be honest, if it still works fine, i wouldn't start digging around in there.
Sledge
I'm betting you'll find a metal tube has come loose from the gas inlet. Easy to fix, you just put it back in place. And I don't think you've been screwed, it's entirely possible it shook loose in the post.
Sh0ty
Sledge, you wouldn't happen to know what that tube might do, would you? -Sh0ty
Sledge
Not really. I don't really have enough grasp of physics to say for sure. Anyhoo, just whack it back into place and problem solved.
amateurstuntman
It is to ensure that a certain amount of gas remains above the liquid propane. To allow for expansion if the mag gets hotter. It could (long shot) be that the previous owner put a couple of metal bbs in the mag to increase the rate of vapourisation.
Sledge
That sounds like what I was desperately trying to remember. Anyhoo, disassemble the mag and take a look. If it is the tube come loose, put it back in place. If someone's whacked a couple of metal bbs in... let us know if it makes a difference.
