SlvrDragon50
My motor consistently overheats in my gun.. Im running a 9.6v IB battery with an SP120 spring and a Turbo 2000 motor.. Is it because the motor is too weak?
Stealthbomber
A few more details might help... Like what gun you're talking about. The motor in my M4 used to overheat because the bushes were worn. Also, be warned that the trigger and selector plate contacts are not too well made on the ICS M4. If the motor is overheating then the electrical contacts will probably be burning out too.
SlvrDragon50
OH, then I know what the problem is. My brushes fell off after I had to take my motor out. Thanks
Aod
OH, then I know what the problem is. My brushes fell off after I had to take my motor out. Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what do you mean "overheat". you'll only know a motor has reached critical temperture when it fails permanantly, as the lacquer on the coils melts. also, what do you mean the brushes fell off? they should not be able to fall out, theyre held in with very sturdy springs. SlvrDragon50
THe spring fell out therefore the brushes fell out. And by overheat, I mean it gets hot..
Stealthbomber
I think by "overheat" he means that the motor is getting unusually hot. I also think he's struggling to comprehend the difference between the word "Bushes" and "Brushes". I also think if the brushes fell out of his motor then it probably wants binning. Aaron886
Correct me if i'm wrong... overheated motors are caused by poor shimming, worn bushings, too strong a battery for X motor, or too strong a spring for X motor? I put that up half for me and half for him.

SlvrDragon50
I dunno.. Its teh stuff on the bottom.. Next to the wire connectors.. And will this cause my motor to not be able to completely cycle the gears?

And will this cause my motor to not be able to completely cycle the gears? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no brushes = non functioning motor at all. have you done any gearbox work recently? who shimmed the box last? what bushings are you using? Also, what gun is it (be specific please).
Xaccers
How long are you holding the trigger for normally when it starts to get hot? How warn down are the brushes? The springs that hold them in place can easily fall off if you man handle the motor taking it out of the gun.

If anything has fallen off, it'll probably stop working.
SlvrDragon50
Its an ICS M4 The only gearbox work I did was switching the upper internals into a new upper gearbox.. The lower gearbox was shimmed and lubed by my Trinity Airsoft...
Aaron886
that would probably say the motor is just too weak for what you're running.
Aod
that would probably say the motor is just too weak for what you're running. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> possibly. its more likely that Trinity Airsoft didn't shim the lower gearbox properly.
Stealthbomber
If bits have fallen off the motor then, ummm, all other issues are secondary really. The motor is borked. End of.

Tommygunn
Not through normal use though, only if you drop the motor or something daft. Can we have a picture?

SlvrDragon50
That might be.. I was using my screwdriver to pull my wires off the motor.
Tommygunn
or something daft. Pull the motor out by the endbell bearing mount and be more careful with that screwdriver.
