chris u'5
I'm hoping one of our American brothers can help me out with a query regarding what colours RS Glock frames are actually available in. As we are all aware Guarder and Pro Arms produce Glock frames in tan, OD and black for the TM and KSC Glock respectively. However after doing a bit of research it appears that real Glock frames only come in Black and OD. Is this actually the case? From what I can gather Glock's OD is quite similar to tan but they don't actually produce a 'tan' frame, very often in pictures and film the OD frame appears to be tan but it isn't actually tan. Recently I watched a programme regarding Polish elite police and it appeared they were using Glocks with tan frames but these could of actually been OD I suppose. It seems a bit strange to me that they don't actually produce a tan frame so if someone could clear this up I'd be really grateful. I realise that people very often paint their frames but I'm asking purely about factory Glock parts. Thank you.
Wayneard3413
They are available in the standard black, OD and tan as you stated above
chris u'5
I cant find any with tan frames being sold by gun dealers only OD and black. So does Glock produce complete pistols with these different colours or are the new frames bought as aftermarket parts and installed by the owner or gun dealer? I'd appreciate some links if anyone has some.
Sale
I've seen OD frames, but never any Tan ones. The pistols with OD frames are like that from the factory. Doesn't mean they don't exist. Just that I've never seen them, but I have definitely seen the OD ones so it's not like I've been uninformed about Glocks. -Sale
chris u'5
Thanks Sale. From the information I've been able to gather from various Glock forums it is only black and OD available, no tan. As I mentioned in the first post people have stated that the OD frame isn't a true OD so is sometimes mixed up with tan when it is actually OD. It's not really a big deal but I'd like to clear it up as for part of my next Glock project I was planning on installing a tan frame on the pistol but I'd like to keep it accurate to RS. So if it is only OD that's available I'll go for that instead. On a side note I'd also love to hear from owners of the Guarder OD frame regarding the actual colour of the frame. Stealthbomber
Don't forget that there's a thriving after-market supplying Glock parts. I seem to recall there's even a metal frame available for them. Course, it's doubtful that an official organisation would purchase a sidearm fitted with custom parts. I only mention it on the off-chance that there are pic's of custom Glocks out there fitted with after-market frames.
DesertFoxRomel
It seems a bit odd. This is a Glock in OD: http://www.gotglock.com/ And this guy says his glock is also in OD, but to me it looks tan. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=255140 The shades of OD/Tan are very close. If you were to buy a frame, I think this one matches the Glock 35 in the above link: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?...i1du9n7jqvi47c5 Edit: Just for kicks, look halfway down the page http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=277600 Double edit: I looked up "Glock OD" on google images, and they all look tan/ Flat Dark Earth to me, or did I go color blind recently? http://images.google.com/images?q=glock%20...sa=N&tab=wi
Spartan117x
I think the tans just OD with the camera flash screwing with it. I have not seen a tan one. OD-yes.
chris u'5
OD definitely doesn't picture very well. This is the reason I think people who say RS Glock frames are available in tan as well as OD are getting confused. I've still been searching and I can't find any hard evidence at all of RS tan frames.
Reborn
This one is my TM G17 with a tan Guarder frame installed. It looks a lot closer to OD than tan to me, though. Picture was taken in artificial lighting with no flash.
chris u'5
Thanks for the picture but that actually looks more like tan to me! It shows how pictures of tan and OD can be interpreted differently.
MCXL
It looks closer too a real glock then the dark OD of the guarder frames. Get the tan, its a tiny bit too bright, instead of WAY too dark.
Reborn
I debated with myself about which color to get when I commissioned my sidearm at AEX. The OD of the Guarder kit seemed a bit... too green. The tan variant is more true to the real-steel Glocks that I have seen.
chris u'5
I see what you are saying guys. From what i've been able to gather from my own research the Glock 'OD' frame is actually more like tan. The Guarder OD frame does appear quite dark.
Reborn
I see a lot of similarity between the "Glock factory OD" and the color of an AUG A1's stock. Perhaps we should call said color "Austrian OD?"
