Libris
Hi When I click on the 'View New Content' I keep getting the same two posts - something about Glocks and the other about Turnigy chargers. I've tried logging off and back on but the same thing happens. It makes no difference whether I'm at work or home (laptop at home base unit at work) and happens on IE, Firefox and Chrome. Cheers,
BaBaBooey
Something similar happened to me. Check if you accidentally activated some odd filters...I had one set that showed strange posts when I hit view new posts.
spetsnazdave87
Mine's working, unfortunately all I've got coming up is some idiot spamming the 'Hello I'm new threads' welcoming every single new user from the past month despite having 0 posts himself... hwagan
Maybe he's well aware the new here forum doesn't up your post count and he's just a friendly chap?
spetsnazdave87
I'm gonna stick with my first guess
Libris
Fixed! I can only assume I selected some odd filters in error.
Arnie
Good to hear.
WhiteHawksan
At odd times, when I go to "View New Content" the filters are "New Members" "New Members Since My Last Visit", except, I've never selected these filter options.
Arnie
At a guess this is happening when you click on the link from the members page.
WhiteHawksan
it is indeed, run a few tests across multiple acesses, address bar, forum root, asubforum and members and it's only from the members section
Arnie
I believe this is expected behaviour given the context of the button location.
WhiteHawksan
"Unexpected feature" *closed* It also does it from messages, which given the way they are out of workflow seems a bit awkward. Is there any technical reason why it doesn't remember the filters?
Arnie
"unexpected feature"? Nah jsut saying how I think it is, the forum software runs into many pages of code and I didn't write it I believe the reason you are getting what you are seeing is that the "private messages" panel is part of the member panel. When you click content it'll take you to new content for members. If you check the link for PMs you'll see it's part of the members app > http:// www. arniesairsoft. co.uk/ forums/ index.php?app=members& module=messaging I agree it's a bit daft and will highlight it as a possible bug fix. WhiteHawksan
It returns the viewresults members as well, interestingly, from there if you click the view new content button again it takes it back to your saved filters. Does seem a bit daft as I can rarely think of any point you'd WANT the default filters to be new users since you last visited.
Arnie
Okay I've had a chance to play with this a bit more in depth now. The "members since last visit" flag appearing only on the "new content" link in a member related area would seem to make sense to me. Is the issue you have over the flags being slected on the left side? As far as I can see those flags need to be slected (well at least one or the other), and given that the view new content link inside the members application should be design take you to that page it all appears to be working as it should I agree that it's a strange link as I have no need to see the new content relating to members myself. If you can highlight the specific issue(s) you think needs correcting I'll see wat I can do. My apologies if I've misread something I've re-read all the posts above and I think I've read and understood everything that's been said. Feel free to correct me if I've got the wrong end of the stick!
