Cannot Post IMG Links from Photobucket?!

Having an issue, been on and off (usually causes more issue if I use QuickReply). I  can't seem to post IMG links via my Photobucket - it keeps saying "you're not allowed to use that image extension on this community".

 

Any reason why?

I got that in quick reply too yesterday. I went to the full meal option and it posted fine.

The last couple of days when I click on the insert Image icon, the screen turns light blue but the dialog box for inserting the website name never appears.  To insert photos I've had to switch to BBCode and insert manually.

I've always just cut and pasted links. The attach files button hasn't worked for me in a donkey's years.

try just copypasta the code.

Can you post the text link or a screenshot of the link you're trying to insert? I can have a look. Without knowing what you're trying to do exactly it's hard for me to fix it for you.

Just tried inserting an image from my PB account, noworkski. Even posting it as code (as to avoid parsing by the forum) returns an error unless I put spaces in the IMG tags to disable them entirely.

Weird - I posted the above without issue using BB code and live insert, so it might be a member/usergroup setting that's causing grief. gif,jpeg,jpg,png are all permissible image attachement extensions.

What's the exact error you get when you try to do it?

Then hit go advanced and this shows.

 

 

But the original photo goes up fine if you ignore the warning (Vancouver, Jericho Beach).

Weird. Seems like a flaw either way around. Either I've missed a toggle in the new forum software and you shouldn't be able to post images (for whatever reason) and you can circumvent it in the way you've described. Or there's a bug in the image insert code of some form.

 

I've raised a ticket to see if we can get it looked at. Given the festive season it might be a day or two until we get a result.

I'm getting the same issue; I can circumvent it the same way as Danke has described, but I figured I'd mention it.

Today and yesterday I've had to go through the exact same steps as Danke posted there in order to post images.  In fact today I seem to have to click post, get the error, the forum changes the BBcode around all by itself, then I paste in the code & link from Photobucket a second time and it all works.

Any chance you guys can check posting images now? The full patch has now been added (and a bug we had fixed at the same time) which should have fixed this issue.

No warnings now but the pictures do not appear, just a link. I am using the imgcode link to cut and paste like I normally would. You can see the picture in the preview but when you post it swaps to a link.

I played around a bit with that light switch in in the top-left corner, turns out the forum will only display images if the BBCode is posted in this format (which isn't the default that photobucket etc supplies and people are used to):

 

 

Added the spaces in just so it'd show up.

I also can't see IMG links other people have posted; usually I can see the picture directly, but now I only see a direct link.

Also YouTube embedding doesn't seem to functional at all.

Clicking on the TV-screen icon labelled "Image" (2 to the right of the one for inserting regular internet link) turns the whole computer screen that misty light blue, but the dialogue box for copying in the image website address never appears.  The screen is frozen and I have to refresh to get out of it.

OK, you go to add reply in the full screen. Hit the button that looks like a Polaroid picture and paste in the direct link from Photobucket. Never used to be that way though, you could just drop the tags right in.

Could it have something to do with the web browser we're using?  I'm still on IE8, because I need it to connect to work, and work doesn't support/work with the more modern versions.

I reckon it's just the board, I'm using chrome and everyone seems to be hitting the same snags.

 

Weird that photos already posted before the update continue to work fine, but signature images got messed up because they're 'posted' again each time and new images have to be formatted differently.

im getting something different. i havnt tried to post any images in the last few days, but all the old images from befor the 21st or so have all changed to external links, but i can see all the new images.

Yeah I stand corrected, I went back through a couple of picture threads and you're dead on horse.

 

Didn't realise that was happening, that's pretty damn bad actually.  Every picture that's ever been posted and hosted up on PB just shows the URL now, could it be something photobucket changed?  On page 1 of 'Pics of your gear' for example there's some images still working, not sure where they're hosted though.
