They are getting harder and harder to find these days though. Seems like the surplus stock is almost sold out.

Although not authentic as historically authentic as the original chicom chest rig, here is an alternate.

For the price, you can't go wrong. I have heard nothing but great reviews of this item.

Since the title has to do with an update on king arms stuff, I have something interesting to share.... It seems King Arms stuff is getting harder and harder for retailers to get. When I wanted to get a part from redwolf (was having email conversation, and then a phone one) They told me it would be iffy whether they'd be able to get the part ordered, because they rarely got things from KA anymore, and it was hard for them to email:

"Thank you, our inventory team has contacted our supplier on this already, but because King Arms these days seems to have some problems supplying items, I’m sorry to say, please do not put too high expectation. Thank you."

just thought I'd share.

Huh, I wonder why? Is it part of the Chinese crackdown for the Olympics? I thought King Arms were from Taiwan...

Nope. KA is a Hong Kong based company. The problem KA has is that they're not constantly producing new stock of old items. Whenever a product of theirs is sold out they gauge the popularity of the product and decide whether or not to do another production run.

The other problem is that KA is starting to over extend themselves by producing so many different products. Every new product they put out is both a monetary investment and a gamble. Spending so much money on so many new products leaves very little money left over for new production runs of old products.

This is info I've been told by several other HK manufacturers when I asked a similar question about KA.

Another thing KA has started to do is require a larger minimum order that retailers must place with them in order for the retailer to receive product. In the past retailers could place orders with almost no minimum amount, but now with a much higher minimum amount most retailers don't place theirs orders as often as they used to.
