Panzergraf
Unless they somehow *fruitcaged* up and made low-quality parts, this should be ace. On paper it looks better than i.e. the Systema complete gearboxes. Does anyone know anything about the retail price this will eventually go for?
transist
Sounds pretty nice. As long as the parts are made and assembled decently it should be a great box.
arivee
What kind of gears are they using? Evike is selling AIM Top gears that are "auto-friction adjustment". Dunno what it means - but it would be great if anyone could kindly confirm what it means and if they go with the gearbox mentioned above.

bjorn
hahaha, Evike! basically, Evike are making stuff up. again. to make their products sound good. Are you just throwing it around the sound cool or do you have any info or first hand experience at all with AIM Top gear sets? Anyhow, I dunno about Evike, but the AIM Top gear set DO have auto shimming. And it even works. In the end if you are a good shimmer you could do a better job, but the auto shimming feature is pretty neat and comfortable. Bjorn
Aod
right, so the gears detect the size of the gearbox and their position relative to other gears and increase or reduce their thickness? rubbish!
DesertFoxRomel
^actually, it works by replacing shims with washers and springs. The springs take out the slack and adjust to different gear box shell dimensions, making it *auto shim* when the user installs it. Personally, I would just shim it myself, as it adds a lot more parts and complexity to the gb.
Aod
Springs and washers eh? i can't say that sounds like a good alternative to proper shimming to me.
Panzergraf
It's not a new idea though. It works (at least in the other guns I've seen which use autoshimming) but regular shimming is better if done properly.
