  1. Well, I guess I stand corrected. However, I have a laptop which I use from home, hotels, a company house and several offices and I've never noticed that I have to log back in when I change locations. For example, I can be sneakily surfing Arnies from work then (without switching the laptop off) I'll take it back to the hotel, open it back up and be able to carry on using the forums. Perhaps it's because I don't close my browser or switch the laptop off between locations?
  2. To be fair, I had problems with this for MONTHS. I asked for advice and people were telling me to make sure I ticked the "remember me" box, to refresh cookies, to log in on the proper log-in page rather than at the top of the forums and a whole bunch of other things. I think there IS some kind of a hiccup with the forums. It's as if it causes something on your PC to get stuck in a loop so the cookie doesn't get written or gets deleted or something. I'm not honestly sure, TBH. All I know is that, when I logged in on my laptop for the first time after formatting the HDD, it worked perfe
  3. If you're having problems staying logged-in it shouldn't be anything to do with a changing IP address. I've had similar problems myself. I was finding that if I log into www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums and get the name & password box, enter my details AND click the "remember me" box I was STILL having to log in time after time, whenever I came to the site. TBH, I'm not totally ure what cured the problem. I think I went to the dedicated log-in page, then cleared all my cookies then logged in (and clicked the "remember me" box). I don't think you're having problems because of
  4. Overall, the original piston is 10mm longer than a normal one. The spacer should, obviously, be 10mm wide so you end up with a normal piston that is 10mm longer than it started off. If it's an extra mm or so it shouldn't make any difference. As long as the spacer is 10mm wide you can't really go wrong. The guide was originally posted in the Army Armament L85 thread. You can get it HERE. Right-click the link and click "save link as" if you want to save the PDF to your PC.
  5. Erm... What's to check? You buy a normal, 16 tooth piston, fit the spacer to the front of it and then put the piston-head on the front of the spacer. The resulting piston will be the same length as the original AA piston. Job done.
  6. I wouldn't bother. If you really must fit the new rail then go ahead but, thing is, you have to strip the gun down to remove the original rail so, since you've taken that off, you might as well just file it down and then refit it. Added to that, there's always the risk that you won't drill the new holes perfectly accurately and, as a result, the new rail will be fitted slightly wonky. I did a similar thing. I bought a Star SUSAT and Star dovetail rail at the same time. I looked at fitting the rail for about 30 seconds and then filed the G&G rail down (which took another 30 seco
  7. Must say, if you have problems with mags sitting too low in the mag-well, the smart thing to do is to adjust the gun, not the mags. Get yourself a little blob of plasticine and stick it to the bottom of your hop-up feed tube then stick your mag in. Take it out again and you should see that there's a mm or two of plasticine left squeezed against the bottom of the feed tube. That tells you how much longer your feed tube needs to be. Now cut the feed tube in half, leave the correct gap and then fill the space with JB Weld. Once it's dry you can run a dremel through the middle to clean
  8. It might work, in addition to a post barrier but imagine how much people would moan if they had to score 100 posts AND wait a fortnight (or whatever) to use the forums? The 100 post thing isn't ideal but it undeniably DOES do the job it was devised for. When it was set up for the UK forums there was a lot of moaning for a few days but, after that, we genuinely haven't had a single "how do I access the sales forums?" question asked. The people who are currently annoyed by this situation will get their post counts up in the next week or so and, after that, it'll do the job it's suppo
  9. Well, given that we get reports of FAR fewer scammers now and we don't get people signing up to sell fake rolexes and stolen mobile phones, that'd mean you're mistaken.
  10. Ahh... Glad you raised that point. Besides spammers sticking out like a sore thumb, incurring warnings and also pinging on the mod' teams radar, spamming to reach 100 posts is a WONDERFUL way for a seller to create distrust. I keep saying this and I can only hope people listen... If you are buying something from someboy who has 100-odd posts, GO AND LOOK AT THEIR POSTS!!! If the person has 101 post that all say stuff like "Lol", "Cool" and "Yeah, me too" then you, as a buyer, REALLY should as yourself if you can trust a person who has signed up here for the apparent purpose of se
  11. That's what I thought. In the news thread about the MP5 PTW people are talking about how the M4 has a laser beam in the hop-up which detects when there's a BB in there.
  12. Minor point but I noticed something about the mags... People moan cos G&G and ICS make M16 mags the same size as real ones. The problem is that the mag doesn't go as far into the gun as a real mag goes into a real gun. As a result it hangs down further. That's why airsoft M16 mags are shorter. When they're in the gun they look correct. So, I notice that the PTW mag is the same length as a real one. Does it fit into the gun further than a normal AEG? Does it look right when it's in or does it hand down too far like an ICS or G&G mag does in a normal AEG? I know th
  13. "Don't worry. When we find an elephant burrow I'll check it out."
  14. Posting junk purely to reach 100 posts WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

  15. Just reading through this thread and happened to notice the nonsense crackisbad has been putting up with recently. There now follows a bit of "carrot & stick" psychology.... First, the carrot:- I am NOT warning people about posting objectionable stuff. Post whatever you think is funny, bearing in mind that this site is supposed to be PG13 rated. If something is reported and a mod considers it objectionable it will be edited or removed as required. These things happen. Not the end of the world. Nobody's going to spank you for an accidental step over the line. Don't worry abo
  16. Is it just me or does that tac-light look like it's made from an AEG motor? EoTech looks nice on the P90. I tried fitting one on mine but, in person, it looks too fat to belong on the rail IMO. Looks good in the pictures though.
  17. FWIW, I'm hearing about problems with zeroing ACM sights a LOT. If you read around these forums you get one or 2 people posting every week to ask "how do I get the dot to move on my Eotech/ACOG clone?" Thing is, most of these questions are phrased rather poorly and the responses usually only succeed in clarifying what the OP is asking rather than answering their question. I have a chinese ACOG and I KNOW it doesn't work right. A mate also has one and he says his was fine. Oh yeah? I stuck a laser on his gun and tried adjusting the scope while the laser was shining on a target.
  18. It is? I thought we were just leaving this thread open in order to establish a list of *albatross*-kissers who will be persecuted at a later date?
  19. Thing is, this is a community, not a reference library. I was once part of a forum where they decided to ban repeating the same topic. When a subject came up the thread would be closed and the poster would be directed to the pre-existing discussion of that topic. It killed the forum almost completely within about 6 months. Thing is, if you want advice here then you ask and those who can answer will respond. The REALLY GOOD bit, IMO, is that repeating a subject can introduce new facets to the discussion. People might make the same assumptions 99 times but, on the 100th time, somebo
  20. When I see posts like this I do 5 things, not neccessarily in this order:- 1) I assume the poster is spamming to reach 100 posts. 2) I check the posters other posts to see if they're useful. 3) I check the posters IP to find out if they are a duplicate account. 4) I delete the post so the poster doesn't achieve 100 posts with spam. 5) I issue warning points and, in extreme cases, suspensions. So far this guy finds himself at #4. I'm going to be out all afternoon so there won't be any further warnings. If I get back tonight and find Crazy Rich has made a bunch more spam po
  21. Eh? Each shot from an airsoft gun takes a given amount of power. Let's say approximately 70 watts. That power will remain constant irrespective of voltage. At 9.6v, 70 watts equates to a current of 8 amps. At 7.2v, 70 watts equates to a current of 9.7 amps. Sooo.... a 9.6v 2000mah battery will power a gun for 15 minutes of continual firing. a 7.2v 2000mah battery will power a gun for 12.4 minutes of continual firing. That's the law! Specifically, Ohms Law.
  22. Well, if it's a "normal" battery (2 rows of cells side-by-side) then a mini pack is all you'll get in there. If it's a nunchuk type battery (and I'm guessing here, based on the batteries for the crane stock of my M4) You'd probably get something like a 2200mah battery in. Personally, I'd suggest running a battery wire to the boxmag and then stuffing the biggest 9.6v battery in the world in there. Well, up to around 4000mah, anyway.
  23. The piston travels almost exactly 3". The weight of pull to cock the gun is less than 3lbs on the cocking handle. On the basis that I think you're trying to come up with some sort of linear compression thingamabob, I tried compressing the piston directly, by pushing it with a screwdriver wedged up against a set of bathroom scales and it registered round about 25lbs to compress the piston directly. However, I have a sneaky suspiscion that, due to the point-loading on the scales, the true force required might be even more than that but I don't have any reliable way to measure it.
