I know what you're talking about with discretion, USCM. I get a lot of range time for CCW training (a bit different than your LEO/MIL classes, for sure!) but I run into a few people who have the same anti-airsoft attitude. With such close-knit communities at ranges and shooting clubs, you have to watch what impressions you make on people, sadly.

Rather than post a new topic, I'd rather ask here, and ask for any lengthy answers to be PM'd to me: I want to get into a GBBR platform within the next year or so. Which brand do you all recommend? I would want the same as anyone else: reliability, compatibility, semi-affordable.

Perhaps I'm coming late into the conversation and am missing something, but I know the DD Omega and Omega X rails allowed a fake gas tube.

Welcome to airsoft. Moving from "realism" to "paintball-like" sport. I understand that it's just a replica, but I guess that's the division between pricier brands and cost-effective ones. Theres a few things in airsoft I won't compromise on.

They're Flyye mag pouches. With the Magpuls, they're wide enough that they won't fall out. Without Magpuls, you'd need the retention straps. I took them off.

That picture is what I used as inspiration to build my last CQBR, and damnit, you just made me want to build another. Now I actually have a fitting one with trademarks...I just need a 10.5" barrel. Figures; I have an 11.5!

Just wanted to thank you guys for the advice on how to tackle an extra-long buffer tube extension. Got it hacked off and filed nicely and now it all fit together like a dream. Thanks again.

Sounds good. I have both long and short version screws; again, the tube/hardware fit on my Magpul body, which has the shortened extension, so once I cut this new body down to size and use the same tube/hardware it should be cherry. I'm working and won't be able to do it today but you all have my thanks!

It should be fine! I assume there's no problems with structural integrity by chopping it down? And I assume all bodies with the longer extensions don't have grooved extensions to hold the wires? I can't be the first person with this problem!

I already sanded it a bit to prevent that. The end plate and receiver have a small enough gap; I was able to fit the buffer tube on fine, and double checked for crimping/wire damage and it passed. I just quit at trying to figure out why the buffer tube wouldn't quit sliding! I'll chop it down tomorrow an let you all know.

I never thought of that fix. I have a Magpul body which has the shorter extension; I've mounted this tube on it before. I assume I could measure that length and just cut the longer one down to the same size?

In-Progress Block 1.5 build for PJ impression. May go Mk18 Mod0 on this biotch. G&P RIS is fantastic. Only downside is the part of the lower receiver that extends into the buffer tube is the long-type, and therefore my Lipo tubes won't fit on it, so I'm stuck using a PEQ15 for the time being.

Chest rig setup for new PJ loadout. Needs new pouches though, and I'll be getting an H-Harness like Jason's got.
