  1. YOU ARE CORRECT! It's not as heavy as it was with the scope and mount on it that are now on the scout, but yes, the EBR is stout, and nose-heavy. Lipo batteries save some weight up front, thankfully. Edit: Oh, and hooray for bungie slings!
  2. Don't put that on me. That was all you, dude.
  3. Few more of the daylight rifle:
  4. Well the Norotos hardware and the PVS14 I can understand, but VELCRO??!?!?! OMG you're CRAZY spending the amount of money they're demanding for name-brand Velcro these days!
  5. Itching for a coat of Flat Dark Earth, but here's mine:
  6. Nice scout, very tidy paint on it. Mine is added above. See if you can guess where the scope and mount were originally mounted, hehe. Still need to replace the heatshield and figure out how I want to paint the stock/furniture.
  7. G&P EBR kit, Marui base gun. Sprayed it with FDE gunkote. Set up for night games with the EOTech 551, VITAL-2 and IR illuminator.

  10. I own the G&P kit and would like to use the complete rail on the forearm as well. I recall seeing a photo on some website or other of a real steel EBR with the plastic cover installed WITH the rail on there, but no indication how, exactly. I'm going to be gunkoting my stock over the next couple of days, perhaps I'll take a look at how that might be done.
  11. Neglected to mention it before, but that is a very well done paint job. I swap optics back and forth between real steel and my airsoft stuff, so the 3-9 is closest for the work this gun will do (other glass I have at the moment are 6-24x and 20x fixed for varmints...may add a 4.5x14 Leupold soon, we'll see). I like 3x or 4x for airsoft ranges. Allows for maintaining sight of your bb and the transition as you mount the rifle is smooth with lower magnification vs. a 6x or 10x setting. The higher ranges are unused for the most part. My PTW wears an aimpoint 3x w/side flip mou
  12. chilldrdude, how is the eye relief on that scope? I've got a Bausch and Lomb 3-9x on one of my mini-14s - it's the scope pictured in my sig, actually - but I'm not sure I want to dismount it for this gun just to find out that the eye relief is too short to be able to use the cheekpiece at a reasonable length of pull. Thanks.
  13. Missed my M14 (one of the original run of ODs from the initial release, painted, repainted and re-repainted, see my sig) which I sold awhile back. Stumbled into some cash and ordered one of the Marui-based, G&P EBR kit-equipped numbers that ehobby asia sells. I unboxed the gun, took one look at the 'sand' (read: silly looking gold) anodizing on the sand kit and promptly ordered some Matte Dark Earth from Brownells to put a proper flat finish on the chassis. Upgraded with a Guarder FTK - like everything about it except the gears, they'll be replaced with Prometheus's offerin

Nice photos, tomster. Any stripper clip rear picatinny rail for the AEG M14s will have the same set screw. I had the KA RAS for my TM M14 and it was identical to that. I made a small detent in my receiver so that the screw had a bit more 'bite' to it and was less apt to wiggle. It's still a so-so solution, but better than it was.

¡Las fotos, hombre, las fotos! I don't recall whether you said you have a camera, but images of the failures you mentioned would be great! You mentioned misfeeding in auto but not semi auto - my Marui did the same thing after I took it apart for the first time and I was never able to remedy it. I used it as a semi-auto only DM rifle, so it wasn't an issue. I am suspicious of the angle at which the hop up loading tube feeds BBs/sits in the receiver. That never looked right to my eye.

Good information. I was into and out of my Marui M14 several times upgrading and repairing it, so the differences should be apparent. Nice to see that this gun uses a standard sized spur gear, too. That'll make choosing another gear set much easier.
  17. LOL freq88 I *knew* there'd be an ARMS vs. LaRue comment made. Magsz, sorry to hear about this. I'm sure all will be well in the end.

Thanks for the explanations, chas. Your English is excellent. I'll probably be upgrading mine with a Guarder kit after I poke around inside it to make sure it's all compatible with TM/standard parts. Oh, y mejor dicho, ¡Feliz Cumpleaños!

Good observations. I held Titleist's EBR (brand of kit I don't recall, but suffice to say it was spendy) at an Ord game 2 summers ago and it was pretty nose-heavy and put my right (strong) hand at an odd angle. Am particularly interested in the rails. By how much are they too thin? Couple of widths of electrical tape like CA's rails? Also, the paint. Does your assessment extend to the barreled action and rails only or is the entire metal content of the gun (stock bits, flash hider, etc.)? Thank you for taking the time to compile your thoughts. Edit: Happy Bday! Fi
  20. What TDS said. I got a (real steel) A2 stock online for 29 bucks and dremelled it to fit. Moderate amount (less than one cm, but it's a tight space and takes patience) of material removal to get the side rails to fit over the cavities in the receiver. Now I need a longer body pin to secure the stock properly to the receiver.
  21. Yup. Every time. Paul recommended red loctite originally, then green yesterday after I described the problem to him. Green loctite is holding well so far.
  22. Received the hop up rubbers yesterday. Installed one of the three, got off about 100 rounds of pure delight. Rounds formed a solid line of BBs with no stuttering. Then, the airshaft collar failed (again) and it chopped some BBs and ruined the hop rubber. I've reset the collar with green loctite per sniperx's instructions and let it cure. I'll update with chrono results and durability as soon as I have the opportunity to do some testing. Hopefully the airshaft collar won't move ever again. This is the third or fourth time it has slipped. Not common, but it is a concern.
  23. Wow, that's on the TV Highway, is it not? I have family that lives down toward the other end of Cornelius and in Forest Grove. Nice write up.
  24. Dear God in heaven. A YEAR?! *sigh* I still have mine, but it is on backup duty behind my Kifaru Tailgunner now. Glad you finally got it, I guess. Jeez.
