  1. Yeah, but... $300+. Sigh.
  2. Vector Optics Siegfried. Not super cheap but as the only decent clone of a $5000 S&B optic, it's pretty good! Only thing is now I need to find scope rings with a bit more height to them; these don't have enough clearance to allow mounting the rear flip-up sights.
  3. Well, I see a lot of 416s being posted in here... so I'm gonna wager that this isn't a total waste of anyone's time to post as well...
  4. Well, so far I have had no luck in my quest to actually find one... but I'm still on the lookout. While I wait on actual gear, might as well cross-post this, which I got all dolled up this weekend:
  5. Weekend project. First day of school: Homecoming: Mid-terms: Finals week: Still not quite done, but getting very close. Paint job should wear in nicely after a few months. This for my Norwegian DMR/recon sniper kit. Reference pictures that I primarily used:
  6. Both of those are super nice. Good job!
  7. Trying to stay away from straight up plate carriers right now. I did think about the Bear, but was under the impression it had been phased out of service or was in the process.
  8. And can you recommend the alternative for a marksman/sniper kit? I haven't seen any.
  9. Oh? What don't you like about it?
  10. I bet it's not heavy AT ALL. (assuming it's even real/functional)
  11. Well, here we are, a year later just about and I have finally committed to doing a TMBN impression. Here's what I was looking at doing, comments welcome (although hopefully not on the stuff that's already on the way!) - N-kamo Crye set - Heidrun chest rig (OD makes more sense to me, but the only pictures I've seen of it in use are actually coyote brown) - TM 417 w/ S&B scope - NFM 417 pouches - Ops Core FAST w/ alternate n-kamo boonie - PRC 148 - ... the rest TBD And a specific question, if pkekyo is still around... who makes that ghillie cloak posted on this page?
  12. I'll bite. I miss forums vs. Facebook. A few I don't think I ever posted here, sorry if I'm repeating anything. Last ones from a dry-fire training exercise, so that's why no eye protection.
  13. Good reminder that I need to get one of those for my real blaster (well, a 301 anyway). Somewhat disincentivized on that front since I live in CA... sigh. As for which optic... can't say I super love either. An XPS would be nice up there. I'll be putting a Micro on mine.
  14. But not with Crye pants/kneepads, which was the whole point.
  15. Uh, well, if real units are using it, then that's "correct," isn't it? If real units were using partisan pants with kneepads we would never have had this conversation! I have indeed been living in a bubble, I suppose, and part of that is constantly dealing with people who want to be in the bubble but also want to poison it with their ideas of what's good about the bubble or not. That's not how that works. However you're right that my perspective is limited in that regard. Sorry for bringing the drama.
  16. Using Crye kneepads in an outdated camo that most likely hasn't been issued in years? I kinda doubt it, but whatever. My experience for the last several years is almost 100% attending events where people are expected to make an effort at authenticity, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised to have rustled some feathers with my outvoted opinions.
  17. That's from quite a while ago, in my "didn't know better" phase. However, I still use it, at night. It's functional. When I can afford to replace it with a real Persht, I will. Meanwhile, "Russians" in woodland camo and fake, non-multicam Cryes will continue to make me sad. I understand people play the game with different perspectives on "authenticity" but if you're gonna bother to get actual Russian camo seems like you might as well also take the time to get it right or at least passable.
  18. I mean I know Cryes are nice but stop farbing up y'alls game.
  19. Good stuff. I should post an updated pic of my AK74M with authentic real rust damage as a result of being abandoned at a game in the pouring rain and left in a damp rifle case for a month. The sling was 100% white mold when I took it out.
  20. So you have a scope mounted using tape? Also if the tape is to grip your mags in your vest/jacket, shouldn't it be on the other end? Much confused.
  21. Been a while since I posted anything in here... might as well.
  22. Uhhh... literally held together by tape doesn't seem like a good sign.
  23. Oh hey, klh31 wins. Let me know if you need some help dealing with that... obsession you have going on.
  24. Yes, that's it. Although with a different mount, and I'm not sure whether it's a strictly civilian mount, or issued, or what – but my supplier swore that NPZ simply doesn't have the older style mounts anymore, or at least didn't for the period of a month or two we were discussing it. As that page explains, there is also a difference between the military and civilian reticle – mine has the military version. Great optic overall. I suppose most easily described as a "Russian ACOG." Very clean and sharp optically, and the zoom is a good, usable level. I need to do a real range report with it.
