tosuzu
I'm thinking about buying a SPR Mk12 flash with a silencer. Thinking about converting to a M249 para. http://www.uncompany.com/pageproductdetails.asp?prodid=11313 Would this be a disgrace to the m249? should I just get a regular flash hider. I love silencer the quieter the better!
Pablo
As most of the sound from an M249 comes from the gearbox, you really won't notice any difference if you fit a silencer. I've got a short one on mine at the mo - it was sitting around doing nothing, so I thought "why not?". It looks daft on a Mk1 though, so it's coming off for my next skirmish. master_titled
It would be a disgrace to all support weapons.
Nooblet
It would be a disgrace to all support weapons. QFT I love suppressors normally but it's just so wrong to put one on a support gun. Support gunners should be loud and proud that's one of their main purposes.
tosuzu
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> I suppose they are not that loud and proud.... I still like it. (disgrace still?)

Victory
A suppressed LMG is, most definetally, not a new idea. If you go this route, though, get something a little more realistic. I've seen Gemtech suppressors being used on M249s, and Madbull makes a quality replica. -Vic
masakarijoe
go for it. why not? their advantages completely outweight the disadvantages... in reality. in airsoft, well, whatever -Joe
silent_soul
i had one on my m249 and it actually made it louder since it was hollow, it changed the sound drastically like a hollow thumping sound that was rather neat. as long as you dont mind it i think it would be fine. nicho12
I think in airsoft it would look pretty cool, and if it makes a more hollow sound that would be wicked!
apmaman
you could always get a longer inner barrel so the silencer hides it and gives you a bit more accuracy and some extra range
infected
Real steel M249 silencer by AAC (Advanced Armament Corp) http://advanced-armament.com/249_sd.asp I've been thinking about doing it. Note, it's almost the same as the one made for the SCAR. So there is an airsoft replica of it... sort of.
hunter512
IIRC the Gemtech product guide and Janes infantry weapons both have the Gemtech halo down as capable of being mounted on an m249. Apparently the halo will work with just about anything 5.56 flavoured.
Buerstli
I once tried to fit my MK12 SPR flashhider on my M249 Para and it didn't work because of that little knob under the barrel(excuse me sirs Can't remember the correct name right now) which was in the way so I couldn't screw it to the end. Without the silencer it may look good but I'm not to convinced about it.
Pyrodex
NO NO NO dont put a silencer on any kind of support gun! they should be as noisy as possible for maximum intimidation! if you loose the muzzle crack you just make it sound even more like a p155ed off sewing machine!!!
