Jonny
Out of the many problems I appear to be experiencing with G19 is the slide falling off the gun. The slide catch seems just as good as my G17 and I can't for the life of me figure out why it's doing what it is. It doesnt happen all the time, but could happen 5 times in a row, or just randomly. After racking the slide or firing it, the return stroke then throws the slide right off the frame lol. Here is a video, just because I thought it was an amusing problem, anybody that has an answer, feel free to make an addition to this thread. http://www.mrjon.org/download/_VIDEO/G19_Slide.wmv [4.00 MB WMV] +1 To anybody that knows what the eff the problem is
ViciousV10s
Had you or any previous owner ever taken out all the internals of the gun? The slide release catch that you hold down to take the slide off could be in backwards, or it can be severly worn down. Also the outer barrel where it locks into the frame can be worn. EmptyChambers
That would be my guess as well. However I just have to know. What happens if you try and shoot it like that?
ViciousV10s
If it is a plastic slide and barrel with significant use Id guess the outer barrel is worn.
Jonny
It is an ooooold Jap G19 HW, im using a G&G slide but the old plastic barrel with it, I think ill look into it more tonight. Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks for the ideas! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My bet is def a worn plastic outer barrel then. Do you not have the metal G&G outer barrel?
Lance Jackass
Strange that's how i used to strip my G19.... - cock, hold, press down on tabs and release to send slide flying... simple things, simple minds.
sadigh
Probs the dissasembly tab in the frame is missing, there is a slot above the trigger guard. Can you see all the way through it?
ED-SKaR
I have EXATCLY the same problem. the inner barrel is worn away where it meets the takedown bar. My problem started when i dropped the gun it can still work if you keep a mag in the gun, but i dont know what stress it will put on the mag.
Jonny
I looked at the slide take down lever and sure enough it was in backwards. I've removed the trigger components and everything, except I can't remove the metal inner frame, because the slide take down lever is in the way and I can't figure out how to slide it out lol. sadigh
There should be a long straight length of metal underneath the takedown lever, you will need to push down on it with a pair of long-nose pliers to enable the takedown lever to slide out the frame
ViciousV10s
To take it out you simply press down on the copper flat sping that pushes the take down lever up and while holding th flat spring down, slide the take down lever out either side.
Jonny
I successfully put it back together, and when using a new G&G barrel it still happens... now im offically stumped. However what is intresting is that it doesnt fly of as often so it may have appeared that something worked, but theres still a little something else as it would appear. ViciousV10s
Are you sure the locking lever is in right? I have a feeling that the cause was the worn outer barrel and then you flipped the lever so now it's not working with the G&G barrel. The taller flat side of the lever with the two square divots should be facing the rear of the gun.
BrentN
Just for curiousity sakes, can you post a macro shot of the innerbarrel/outerbarrel assembly, particularily where the grooves are that lock it in place.
