AnakChan
Picked up the VIS-2 from WGC today (walk-in). Store price is HKD$2450 (USD$313), and the VIS-1 was HKD$2250 ($288) - both cash-only prices. Dentrinity has got them too, same price. At first glance, finish is more "normal", i.e. not as nice as the Dytac MUR. But still it's nice :-). Everything else looks to be well made. Think you can forget about front mounted batteries, space is too tight (unless U use a PEQ).
Warning
LOL something actually that people want instock at WGC thats a new one :/, now if i had enough money and AR type weapon i might think about getting one

AnakChan
Guys, the lower rail dropped off...it's not screwed on but seems to be riveted :- And up close of the rivet (note not screw) :- Personally I'd recommend holding off buying this product first until their QA improves. uscmCorps
That is indeed very strange. I'll have a word with DYTac about this. That said, if DEN Trinity doesn't give you a refund, you could drill out the rivets and install screws and bolts. The mod shouldn't take long at all and be easy to do. Still, I'll find out wtf is up with those rivets.
Magsz
Thats really quite odd, dytac usually makes some of the best kit around.

AnakChan
So to give you guys an update, uscmCorps has graciously assisted me by having Dytac support get in touch with me on my broken VIS-2. Dytac shipped out a replacement lower VIS-2 cover and I've just installed the replacement and fitted my Surefire M901A grip back on. The replacement's rail is much better bolted/riveted onto the lower VIS cover. It's able to hold the weight of the whole AEG now ('about 4.5kg). So thank you very much to uscmCorps and to Dytac support for their excellent service, I'm back on track!!

Originally I said that you should contact DYTac directly, but you should probably contact the store you bought it from first. It's partly their responsibility to ensure that the products they sell are checked first. Edited for spelling.
AnakChan
I should add that I didn't see the those kinds of "dings" in my VIS-2. Mine did have the silvery metal show underneath (no big deal), but I didn't have those kind of marks on mine.

AnakChan
lee1hy, I went to WGC with your order info and colour pic printouts of your VIS. They sounded like they had received your e-mail before. The guy asked you to mail them again and send the VIS back to them. They'll talk to Dytac and have it replaced. As to why they stopped taking orders, according to the sales guy, there were issues with the 1st batch. As to why other shops (Redwolf, Dentrinity, etc.) still sell them, I didn't bother asking those shops. Anyway, best of luck. If you still have problems, let me know...I'm sure I've got time to pop by for another visit in the next few weeks.

uscmCorps
This is what happened. DYTac imported some expensive high end paint to be used on the VISs. Gave the paint and the parts to the Chinese coaters. Weeks later after the parts started being shipped out complaints were made (mostly by WGCShop). DYTac went back to the mainland China paint shop and discovered that they secretly never used the paint. Instead they pulled a bait and switch on DYTac, and used some cheaper paint instead and tried to sell off the high end paint to third parties behind DYTac's back. Needless to say... DYTac was very angry upon finding this out. They're looking into the situation right now. This info is current as of this morning. Now this doesn't mean every single VIS out there will exhibit paint problems. But there are a small fraction that do. If you have a VIS that clearly has major paint issues (beyond normal wear and tear), contact the shop you bought it from. If they're unable or unwilling to fix it, contact DYTac directly. But you should go through the store first and foremost. They're able to put more pressure on DYTac than an individual customer would. I'm in direct contact with DYTac, almost daily, and I have been keeping him in the loop about people's findings. Trust me... they're not at all pleased with what is happening here and they're taking steps to resolve the issue. On a side note, lee1hy, is that Magpul Receiver 100% compatible with the VIS? If so, then it confirms my suspicions that Magpul out sourced the manufacture of those receivers to G&P (which I knew to be the case with their Magpul PTS experimental receiver... just not these new Magpul receivers).
