Modern US army loadout

No, because soldiers, in the Army, USN, and USMC, were purchasing Dragonskin Armor, which had not passed qualifications, were getting hurt because they were using Dragonskin, so all the branches of the US Military outlawed use of personal armor.

Utter b______s.

That is all. Carry on.

ORLY? :P just kidding, but I specifically remember that there was a newer version of the ACU IBA seen in the ACU Picture Thread. Whether or not it's in use with the United States Army is a mystery to me.

EDIT: YARLY! It's called the I-OTV, similar to the ACU IBA but obviously with some improvements:

I'm pretty sure that the m4 is not the standard. . .it's the m16a2 for most branches, the Marines use the m16a4 now. Btw the "Since I'm American, I know." Made me laugh ^_^

Oh! and someone said that we use the m16a3, i think that that is a very rarley used fully  auto variant that the navy uses.

Edit:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M16_rifle#M16A3 sweet i was right lol

Did you or did you not read my response?

Almost all pure regular Army Infantry units in theater are using M4A1s, as are most Infantry NG units.  If you're a REMF you might be using an M16A4; as almost all of the M16A2s have been remanufactured to M16A4s.  No one in the US Army uses an M16A3, they were never procured because they were automatic, and the USA don't do automatic.

And yeah, I might know what I'm talking about....

The whole banning of personal armor came about because some soldiers did not buy the correctly rated hard plates or would purchase the wrong soft armor. Also, a soldier would void his/her life insurence policy if they wore other than issue armor.(its in your contract) As for the dragonskin debate, it is useless in this thread, as Dragonskin failed the NIJ testing. Also, there are some horror stories out there in regards to the dragonskin armor falling apart in the Iraq heat.(the "scales" falling off inside the carrier due to the adhesive used)

I have the OE Tech OTV. Very nice vest. Comes with foam soft plates so if you want as real as you can get all you have to buy is the foam "hard" plates to go in the front and back. If you have any other questions just send me a PM or ask here.

Currently I am looking for a real OTV size XL so I can begin my journey of making a complete OTV armor set with real kevlar and hard plates. It will be done in two years because I will get handed it if I havn't made it before that.
