"Western Arms: New WAM4 models

Couple of new WA M4 models from Western Arms. Already available M4A1 and Mk18 are now available with plain Jane grips. More important improvement over older models is redesign of the HopUp unit. While there is no confirmed data what this redesign include, it probably addressed known shortcomings."

Edit: Not sure why they have two pictures of the CQBR, here's the other one:

maybe these changes make for a cheaper overal unit? Maybe WA has realised that people will probably change out the recievers anyway, so why bother making them so intricate and having to pay for trade license.....maybe, maybe, maybe.....maybe this is the budget version for CONversion.

True, I can't see WA cutting us some slack....especially with the credit crunch, even Airsoft Tycoons have to eat :D

Still, if the cost stays the same, or goes up, then they better re-evaluate the market, becuase with all these after-market parts availible, that "new" hop better be made of pure win to stand a chance.

The only way I can see WA rifles moving off shelves now, is if WE produces a complete failure, Inokatsu stay quiet and don't come up with the goods, and companies like KSC etc don't get in on the game.

If the new Hop-up design is robust enough to handle GG but isn't available as a drop in replacement for Gen 1 WA M4s, then I'll be pretty disappointed in WA. After feeling sufficiently duped into being one of their many Gen 1 guinea pig, discovering issues that they should have easily discovered during regular QC testing, I'm not terribly pleased with them as a company on the whole.

I still have good feelings about WA, they build guns like high performance sports cars. And like those cars they perform best under certain conditions (134a). The WAM4 wasn't designed to work with GG, and not that it claimed to be. I knew buying the gun that using Propane/GG would mean stuff would break and I would need to upgrade it. I'm just keep in mind the caveat that I'm taking a risk being a Gen 1 guinea pig, it's a trade off of having the distinction of being first to own. Double edge sword.

I'm guessing the loss of trades is just so they can export easier. I'm also curious about the "hop-up redseign" I'm thinking it will be adaptable since it would be easier to redesign it to fit their existing mold for their uppers plus they can sell replacements to current owners. Win Win.

Personally i'd like to see a classic verison like xm177, car-15, m16VN.

Their newly designed barrel is just their "bulls eye" hop up model that you can currently buy now. Not sure if it's a real improvement over the older m4a1 model. Same gun, just different stuf. It's still not meant to be used with green. I'm planning on buying one of their bulls eye hop up and barrel sets just to see what the difference is.

"My G18 slide cracked."

"My Glock 18c is FTW."

"Glocks are rubbish, i've had two break in three months."

"I got SIX kills with my 18c last night, it always works perfectly."

"WA should've made a better hopup."

"This M4 is the bees knees!"

"Too expensive, terrible design, leaky mags - rubbish."

"My favorite gun ever."

When will people realise?

wow. more m4s out there... boring

cheaper magazines would be good!

How about more robust magazines... This is part of the reason there are not many people switching. The cost would be justified if it performed and was quality like a 100$ magazine. But since it doesnt it kind of defeats thepurpose of owning one.

I for one am thuroughly put off by the magazine cost and the abscense of quality in them (leaky mags make me angry, easy fix or not, it is a 100$ mag after all) and the problems with the hop making it unskirmishable. If they do indeed fix the hop up problems then this may be a decent investment worthy of it's nearly 1000-2000$ price tag. (I hope to god I have a decent job by the time I decide these are ready for purchase!). The last thing putting me off is that some features need disabeling to save the gun from harm. The bolt lock feature is wondefull and I'm glad they have released a fix for this but it should have been addressed before the first release.

Now to go read what I missed in the WA M4 review thread!

$68 mags actually

WA is starting to be like escort, they couldn't care less for the worldwide market

I mean come on WA, think up a gas system to go in other styles of guns, AK's, MP5's MP7's, G3's, SR25's, SABR's, SCAR's, you get the point

GBB G3 that would be nice! Or a Barrett .50

Or they could continue pratting around wiyh the M4 family, and once thy get a REALLY good Gas system, then transfer this to other bodies.

:D I hope this isn't coming from the same person!?! or maybe it is. The problem is, opinions differ depending on the individuals criteria for a decent rifle, and even then, a persons opinion can change over time......

If people tried to second guess what they'd think about something far down the line in the future you'd have no debate, no posts, and hence no forum!

Yup i agree. Everyone's opinion is different. Different ages, different experiences, different preferences, different ideas and heck even sometimes different races determine a person's opinion. I for one have 2 WA's, but i've spent money on them. I'd rather buy a WA that needs work to work with green than buy ANY chinese AEG on the market. Why? Because i grew up with japanese quality. When I first started airsoft, I could barely afford bb's (this was in 1998 btw and bb's were hard to come by). So I can understand when young people say they don't want to pay $100 for a magazine that doesn't work. I for one love tinkering with airsoft more than actually playing. But I have the funds to do it. I'm glad western arms is taking steps to try to improve their system, but quite honestly i think they've done a great job already. Sure their gun isn't 100% perfect, but it's not 100% un-fixable either. I've said it before, and i'll say it again, the Western Arms M4 series aren't meant for people without a job or money. If you can't see yourself spending the money for a systema PTW, don't bother looking to buy one of these. And just because you can't afford it, don't grumble about prices and saying it's not worth it. The only people who should be able to grumble about it are those who have it ;)

Wonder why almost every one with a stock old type WA M4 has had problems except me?

especially since I only use Abbey Ultra, has anyone else tried with Ultra, because I'm denting the top and almost getting through on it. and I've put 4000rds on ultra, 450 on 134a and I've got no problems other than a leaky aftermarket mag which I got exchanged for a new one

Guess it might be luck, or in the three months I've had it using over half a can of abbey silicon to grease it.

And Gliderrider, what do you mean by a really good gas system?, because the fps is awesome, the amount of gas it uses is ridiculous though
