Panoptes
Does anyone have experience of their Eotech front glass shattering when hit? Or have you had yours hit with no ill-effect?
Doughguy
Do we speak of real ones or clones? On an OP a buddies Eo-Clone´s glass shattered.
Wayneard3413
I would worry about a real one just ###### the bed before i would worry about glass shattering (They have a pretty poor track record among real world users... The contacts tend corrode very easily and they dont get along with heat very well)
Agent Hunk
BBs will break real ones.
Kraut
I would worry about a real one just ###### the bed before i would worry about glass shattering (They have a pretty poor track record among real world users... The contacts tend corrode very easily and they dont get along with heat very well) I have yet to see that on mine. It really annoys me when people who have no first-hand experience just parrot this kind of stuff. On topic, there are protectors sold that you can slip on to cover the front piece to protect it from BBs. Element made one IIRC.
Wayneard3413
It really annoys me when people who have no first-hand experience just parrot this kind of stuff. My Dept issued 50 of these... 15 went down in the first year, if you would like im sure i can quote more end users who are not just "parroting" this
Panoptes
Can we specifically stick to EoTech clones shattering?
Wayneard3413
Sorry man... I will crawl back into my whole now
BigAl
Can we specifically stick to EoTech clones shattering? Why the OP said Eotechs he didn't say clones.
Danke
The guy who made this for me had a pretty good business going building them just for real EOTechs. he just started branching out into the clones. Since right in the bumpf for the sight they mention that a holo-sight will still work with a cracked lens I'd guess they will shatter. Now if they'll shatter when hit with a BB, I'll need one volunteer to step forward. I have a shot out clone here that was part of a package deal I got, somewhere on here there's a picture of it. Also tons of shosts of shattered ones in the EOTech photo thread.
Panoptes
Are they still available? I'd try one out. I have a couple of those cheapo plasticky ones but it ruins the sight picture something awful.
Danke
I'll get you his email address, he hand makes them for each particular model.

ECRRRainman
I remember seeing something similar on gunners, Link I ASSUME these were tested to fit clones, so I am not certain if they will fit a real EoTech
Panoptes
They 'fit' but not without a fight. They're not very clear either.
tome
the Element ones are awful from the sample that i had. It's like looking through a mirage. Completely defeats the point of having an eotech.
-Angel-
Completely defeats the point of having an eotech. Posing?
Doughguy
more simple.. cut some polycarbonate sheets and use some clear duct tape.
Panoptes
more simple.. cut some polycarbonate sheets and use some clear duct tape. ^ Too busy, quicker to buy.
Doughguy
really? would just take 10 mins to do, instead of waiting a week for it to arrive and pay 15 bucks or more for it. but hey. its your money.
Panoptes
I don't really fancy taping it on. Would look a bit ######. Yes, would rather pay for a well-fitted, well-made item.
bruce_m4
This is how the protector looks on a real EOTech. That's the same kind of protector that Danke posted. There are several versions for each brand of replicas. It's not like the China made ones that has a distortion and a general fit for all different clones. These are crystal clear and are specific made for each brand for that custom fit. The rear view shows how the protector is clipped in place for a secure fit. Up to you guys on how you want to protect your sights but I think mine looks great.
