Tw1tch
In a little bit of a quandary here. For work I need something that looks formal (no jeans or cargos etc) and is black, however they need to be hardwearing as I'm always clambering over barrels in the cellar and keep managing to split the formal trousers I buy, so I'm just throwing away money where I could buy a couple of decent, hardwearing sets. I've started looking into the tactical and law enforcement kit but they all seem to have cargo pockets which is a no go at work. Just wondering if you wise folks know of anything that might suit? Hatchet
5.11 covert might be worth a look. I switched to them after similar workplace based whinging. Fine for crawling under desks, etc, but couldn't say how they'd be for more strenuous work - you can't have the same level of robustness without more obvious reinforcement, etc.
Lone_Bullet
Arcteryx something for you? http://arcteryx.com/ProductFind.aspx?language=EN&gender=mens&category=Pants&subcat=Casual
NonEx
Definately look into the 5.11 line up of pants. They have several models without the cargo-pants style pockets and they are durable as f*ck! http://www.511tactical.eu/pants/tactical-pants.html
Tw1tch
Have to say, the Arc'teryx appeal to my inner geardo but the 5.11s might win on the affordability front. Cheers guys for the suggestions. Definitely better to buy decent stuff for myself.
shmook
If 'uniform', do work not have to provide? Or at least subsidise? Can't remember the ins and outs about it
Tw1tch
Work provide front of house with aprons and that is it. I'm unaware of the law but I doubt they'd stretch to rip resistant trousers for the cellar dwellers hah.
ED-SKaR
If 'uniform', do work not have to provide? Or at least subsidise? Can't remember the ins and outs about it Black trousers and black shoes are considered items that everyone has, where a company would have to pay for actual PPE or anything that is not common clothing (particularly items with logos)
Danke
Kuhl is another pick.
renegadecow
Sadly, not as much attention is paid to the sensibly dressed man of action market these days. You can still get the old Chuck Norris Action Jeans today, but they're jeans.
Danke
Well if we're going down that rabbit hole the a pair of BDPs is the only choice.
Vortix
Look into Fjällräven trousers. Most of their trousers are made from a 65-35 per cent polycotton blend which is as hardwearing as it gets. Most of them have a buttload of pockets but they do have a couple of more 'formal' options.
